Greek Sage Tea, known as “Faskomilo” in Greece (pronounced “fahs KOM ee low”) has been long valued for its health benefits. There are many varieties of Sage found around the world. The Greek variety, “Salvia fruticosa”, is adapted to the rocky mountainous terrain of Greece and is extremely aromatic, bearing virtually no resemblance to the Sage that is found in North America. We believe it is the highest quality sage found anywhere in the world.
Naturally caffeine free
Tasting Notes: Very aromatic, earthy, slightly savory with menthol notes and a very clean finish
Brewing sage produces an aromatic, soothing and stimulating tea with a warm flavor and a slight astringency. A word of caution for the uninitiated, our Sage tea can be very strong and perhaps is an acquired taste. A bit of raw honey softens the edges and adds another health dimension to this “superdrink”.
Brewing:
Pot method: Bring water to a boil, remove from heat, add a small handful of Sage leaves. Cover and allow to steep for approximately 3-7 minutes. Pour through a strainer into your cup and enjoy!
Infuser method: Bring water to a boil, add a small handful of Sage leaves to the infuser of your choice, pour hot water over the infuser and allow to steep for approximately 5-7 minutes, remove infuser and enjoy!
Be careful, as Sage can become bitter if allowed to steep to long. Best to start with less steeping and experiment. Sweeten with raw honey.
