Even so, it was still insanely good!
It’s a juicy honeydew with bright lemon notes. The honeydew surprisingly pops more in the cold steep and the lemon mutes. Which was pretty much the opposite of I was expecting. This might become my go to iced tea (at least while it lasts).

Ok, so I definitely just got distracted and oversteeped this tea… by a lot. I mean, A LOT. Like, a whole nine minutes and fifteen seconds. That should kill a sencha. In fact, that would kill most teas. Somehow, though, this tea miraculously isn’t astringent?! That said, it’s not great either. I’m not getting any honeydew (but didn’t have any fruit chunks to begin with), and although I’m getting some lemon, it’s fairly mild, though definitely present. I suspect age is a big factor here, though if age helped my epic oversteep not kill this tea, I’ll take it. There’s some beany green tea flavour poking out here… it’s ok, but could be more prominent.
I had higher hopes for this blend since I quite like melon, but it seems that this tea won’t deliver (but then again, user error is probably pretty high here as well!). Maybe I’ll try again someday with a fresher batch of tea.

Before I start drinking that, since hardly walking causes profuse sweating (and you can’t even breathe because it is most definitely a ozone code purple day just like yesterday, it’s terrible). I cold steeped this last night and am now drinking it.
SO much better than I expected! It comes on strong with the lemon though upon taking a sip, almost like a more natural tasting green tea lemonade. It quickly mellows out with the honeydew mixing in. It’s a very refreshing combination. This is well done, I might give it a try hot if I don’t run out of it for iced tea this summer.
Neither fruit flavor tastes very artificial, which I also appreciate. As usual, I could do with a bit more of a green tea flavor but it did end up steeping a pretty long time, almost 17 hours.
What’s a growler?? Also, I feel like I didn’t see this in your cupboard yesterday and therefore didn’t put it on my list, which I totally would have because there’s honeydew in it!
And, what is ozone code purple?? I’m from Sask where air quality is pretty darn good unless there’s a nearby forest fire, and am only just getting used to smog advisories here in Ontario, but I haven’t heard of code purple.
A growler is a refillable glass bottle for beer (or apparently iced coffee concentrate) so you can get it filled and bring it back, which is probably what I love most about them.
Code purple is basically the air sucks for everyone so don’t exert yourself outside. They said it was only going to be red yesterday which is bad enough, but I can seriously tell the air is bad. Here’s the little chart: http://www.air.dnr.state.ga.us/information/aqi.html
And it’s gross because you can just see it in the air, and the sky is this ugly grey. It’s actually clear outside but you’d have no idea.

OMG!!! I’m afraid to go to Georgia now!!! Holy crap! Why is the air so bad there?!
Atlanta and all the cars/traffic in combination with gas prices going down. A city about 60 miles or so south of Atlanta is only code orange which has been most of the days here. When we went out, I was amazed at how many people were out and about, they aren’t helping whatsoever. Of course neither were we, but we were desperate to get this beer since it’s seasonal haha.
I am tempted to use it as a tea bottle since it’s far cheaper than a pitcher at $4, and Whole Foods always swaps it out for a new one when I go so they can I guess clean it even better.
Wow, I suppose that makes sense but it’s still scary. I’m glad I never looked up the air quality levels when I lived in LA. *Shiver.
This is a refreshing iced tea. It has a predominantly lemon flavor with something tartly melon mixed in and the aftertaste of a nice sencha. There are no off or artificial flavors. It is not bitter or astringent at all. It is actually pretty sweet tasting, but does not have a very lingering aftertaste. This is good.
I brewed it for 3 minutes using 185 °F water and then chilled overnight in the refrigerator.
Another tea that I bought to make ice tea with this summer. I haven’t tried it hot, and probably will not, so I can’t note on how it would be if not over ice. Over ice though it is a pretty refreshing tea, not too sweet. The melon was a bit over powering, so I have been halfing it with unflavored green tea that I have a decent stock of, and that does the trick just right. Good tea for a hot summer day.
