From English Tea Store

Piquant and astringent chocolate flavor with cherry and cream notes.

This is a naturally flavored black tea. We use natural high grown Ceylon tea from estates at more than 5500 feet above sea level. We add natural flavor to give a clean true taste with no chemical aftertaste.

Thank you Momo for this one from your amazing tea sale! I have a feeling this is the same blend as Culinary’s Black forest. They both have white chocolate chips with cherry and this certainly tastes like the same black base. (I remember because it isn’t too bad!) The only thing is.. I’m not sure if I could spot the huge cherry pieces here that are in the Culinary. I think this blend could have been a lot worse.. it’s a nice cherry flavor and not fakey. But why oh why the WHITE chocolate chips? I’ll give this blend the same rating as the Culinary’s.

Thanks to Brandy3392 I get to try this tea. I was surprised to see white chocolate chips in this blend. Upon seeing those I thought this would be a highly flavored blend, but it is not. It is subtle in flavoring, just light bright and sweet cherry with a creamy sweetness. This was a great choice to help awaken me this afternoon. I’ve been in a fog throughout the morning. Feeling better already!

First thank you Brandy for sending me this tea and sorry it took so long to try it but better late then never. :-)

As for the tea it definitely isn’t my cuppa. I actually had to dump it. I only got through half a cup. The flavors were all over the place, they didn’t make sense together and I didn’t even recognize tea flavors that were in the there. I will sum up by calling this one a mess.

The white chocolate chips in this tea are adorable, and I was surprised that I actually could taste a hint of white chocolate and not just regular chocolate hints. Not as chocolatey as ETS Mint chocolate but does taste a little like chocolate. Had it with sugar and cream.

I’m glad I finally found an English Tea Store tea that I still like. Lately, I’ve been finding that many of their blends which I once enjoyed now taste artificial and chemical to me.

Anyway, when making this tea I heated the water to about 200° and steeped it for 3-4 minutes. I then added 1/2 tsp of sweetener and some half & half. The tea was yummy. I definitely tasted chocolate cake and cherries with little artificial flavors. It reminded me of a black forest flavored snack cake, the kind sold in cellophane wrapped two packs.

I’ll be the first to admit that I don’t necessarily have a gourmet palate, but I found this to be an enjoyable blend and it scratched my itch for something sweet and dessertish.
