“Four O’Clock” Herbal Tea Blend: 4 oz. Tin (Organic)

A fresh and flowery herbal blend with the scent of an English garden and just a hint of natural sweetness, perfect for 4 P.M. teatime and 4 A.M. insomniacs. While “Four O’Clock” is perfect anytime, this blend of gentle yet powerful herbs and flowers is particularly conducive to a good night’s sleep.

Ingredients:

Hungarian chamomile flowers, American peppermint and spearmint leaves, French lavender buds, Egyptian lemon verbena, Croatian cornflowers, Chinese rose petals, and Stevia leaf from Israel.

All ingredients are Certified Organic (as well as Fair Trade whenever available), of the very highest quality commercially available, and hand-blended and packaged in small batches within the sterile Asylum kitchen by honest-to-goodness germaphobes.

Notes:

Does not contain caffeine.

Does not contain nuts, gluten, or animal products.

You will receive 4 ounces of tea measured by volume (actual weight of teas and herbs vary significantly, so we measure by volume, i.e. size of the tea tin).

A 4 oz. tin makes approximately 50-80 cups of tea (depending upon your brewing style).

Leftover tea? Soothe and cleanse your skin by toning it with this highly nutritional herbal blend. Simply splash onto the face, or apply with a cotton pad. No need to rinse.

Brewing Instructions:

Use one heaping teaspoon of tea per 8 oz. of fresh spring water (or the best quality water you can obtain). Heat water to just below boiling and steep to taste. There is less danger of over-steeping than with actual caffeinated teas — if you brew “Four O’Clock” too strong, simply add more hot water. Tea may be used for several steepings, increasing steeping duration and temperature each time.

Sweeten with honey or unrefined sugar if desired (we love organic coconut sugar in the Asylum).

“Four O’Clock” is also lovely over ice.

Benefits (besides tasting great):

~ Chamomile is renowned for its calming, relaxing effect, especially useful before bedtime, or during any time of mental or physical stress.

~ Spearmint and peppermint soothe the stomach, have a cooling effect on the body, and refresh without caffeine.

~ Lavender promotes relaxation, and offers support for emotional stress, anxiety, and depression.

~ Lemon verbena calms the nerves and eases digestion.

~ Cornflowers aren’t just pretty to look at, they’re also beneficial for digestive issues, and increase immunity to infection.

~ Rose petals contain vitamin C and antioxidants, and are useful in detoxing the body, boosting immunity, and soothing menstrual cramps (yay!).

~ Stevia leaf provides natural sweetness, antioxidants, and is also known to help stabilize blood sugar levels and ease hypertension.
