Orange Sencha

Steepsterites, I think I have been struck with a fit of madness. The taste of this sencha is eerily reminiscent of orange creamcicles – almost anyway, it’s not quite creamy enough. I keep being tempted to commit the ultimate heresy of adding milk to this green(!) tea to see if I could get that creamy-orange flavour to come out to play.

…Yeah, I know, it would likely just make the tea taste aweful.

I revisited this one today – Months after my first try – I did like this one better. I think I over infused last time…I remember not rating previously for that reason…my human error. I ran out of time today to fully review once again but I hope to soon! It’s a nice flavor orange and sencha that stands up to the test tho! Thumbs up!

I’m really enjoying the flavored senchas from Den’s that I’ve tried thus far (the other I’ve tried is the pineapple). The dry leaves have a big, brassy orange scent, while the steeped tea has a much more muted orange scent and taste, but the orange is still present. It’s great how well the orange taste blends with the sencha. I also like that this tastes like orange, not just broad citrus flavor.

This has a delightful flavor. The orange is light and yet such a bright taste to this cup. The Sencha tastes sweet and and smooth, and the orange is sweet, juicy and citrus-tangy!

I do think I’m going to need to check into more of Den’s flavored Sencha teas… this one has me absolutely enchanted.

I asked for a sample of this tea with my last order from Den’s. I was excited to try it. I am in love with the pineapple sencha and just ordered a pound of it.
The orange is nice but for some reason I was getting more of a muted orange taste not a real juicy orange taste like I was expecting. It is still nice but I think I will stick with my favorite-the pineapple sencha!

I love any free tea, but what I love even more is when you get something free unexpectedly that I’ve always wanted to try. And this is one of them.

Prepared as suggested. Holy orange! The flavor of the orange instantly hits me in the face when I open the package. Once steeped, the liquor is a light yellowish green. Unfortunately the orange isn’t nearly as strong as it was when the leaf was raw, but it’s still definitely there. The flavor matches that of the steeped tea and not the raw leaf, but that’s ok. I think if it’d been as strong as the raw leaf it would have been too easily mistaken for an herbal tisane. The sencha is very much a part of the flavor profile.

I just had a 10g sample of this, but I liked it. It’s hard to put a rating on it though, hard to compare it to others after just one try.

The dry tea aroma was like dried orange peel, and was somewhat bitter. The actual taste though was slightly sweet and a little orange/creamy. The creaminess wasn’t strong, but definitely present. I’d love to try it again, or have it iced.

I received this on my last order as a sample. I was really excited to try it. I love their pineapple green tea like nothing else. This blend was mellow. It was dominant orange, with their always tasty sencha. The orange was fresh smelling of the peel of the orange. If I had some mint leaves, I would of threw them in there. Makes for a great iced tea. I only rebrewed it once, and it came out with less orange.

Their pineapple blend really stole my heart and will be hard to beat. I just bought the cherry flavor, which I will probably open up today! Yay! I wouldn’t buy the orange, but it’s still nice.

This was an interesting experience. At first when I opened it up, the orangey perfume was really bright and intense; it tapered off as I was getting it ready, but as soon as the water hit the leaves, the perfume blossomed again. I let it steep for closer to two minutes, because the water wasn’t quite hot enough for a 30 second steep to cut it. At first, all I tasted was the Sencha; as it cooled, the orange flavor developed more, and I sweetened it, bringing out even more of the orange flavor. I would definitely try this one again, with properly boiling water, and see how it goes.
