From DAVIDsTEA

This is Prancer’s moment. Taste why this blend sleighs with its ensemble of baked apple and raisin, accompanied by natural flavours of warm cinnamon, maple and molasses. Enjoy this cozy treat with a bit of holiday magic.

How it tastes: Cooked fruit with festive cinnamon & molasses.

What makes it great:

This caffeine-free tea is the ideal post-dinner dessert. High in holiday cheer, low on late-night jitters.

Inspired by European style holiday fruitcakes, minus the stuffy candied fruit, we wanted to give a playful edge to our fan fave Sleigh Ride.

Strong, alluring holiday aromas appear as this blend is steeping. Fill the room with warm scents for some extra cheer.

Apple (apple, citric acid), Lemongrass, Candied pineapple (pineapple, sugar), Candied papaya (papaya, Sugar), Raisin, Licorice root, Natural (cinnamon, maple) flavouring, Cinnamon bark, Coconut chip (coconut, sugar), Rosehip Peel, Roasted almond (almonds, caramelized sugar), Popcorn, Stevia extract.

This is quite similar to many other DT herbal Christmas blends, but I haven’t had them in a long time, so I didn’t mind the refresher. Hmm I don’t know if I enjoy this mixture of fruitiness and nuttiness. It sort of clashes. I tried to smooth it out with some milk, which kind of worked, but it still isn’t great. There’s just something off-tasting with this one no matter what I do.

(DavidsTea 185)

I think I’ll forever know this tea as “Praneer’s Punch” – I misread it online and keep doing so, something about the font I think? Really wondered who/what Praneer was until I read the description and figured it out.

I bought this in spite of the ingredient list mirroring so many other holiday-ish blends I feel like DT has put out. I may have overleafed, but it ended up being WAY WAY too sweet for me, likely owing in part to the stevia. The lemongrass was also a strange addition. I’ll have to try it with a lighter hand, but my first cup was difficult to drink because it was so syrupy. Perhaps I’ll see what my son thinks of it.

Another new blend!

This one was inspired by a couple things including, but not limited to, more European style fruit cakes, gingerbread, and also Sleigh Ride – one of probably the most classic seasonal teas that DT carries.

So, similarly to Sleigh Ride this is a fruitier tea with some more warming spice notes as well. I think the biggest and most clear difference is that there’s no hibiscus in this blend so it’s not quite as tart and also has a slightly more thin mouthfeel as well because the hibiscus also adds body in addition to tartness. Think more of a brighter fruity top note with high notes of lemongrass and apple that transitions into a sweeter body note of candied almonds, maple and molasses with grounding and warming cinnamon and ginger to finish and round out the sip. In the last month or so waiting for this tea to launch, I’ve kind of taken to calling it Sleigh Rides lighter/softer cousin.

Now, as most of y’all know – Sleigh Ride is not a tea I personally stock up on and neither will this one be, though I do really love those molasses flavours in the mid sip. I just personally have so many other holiday teas fighting for my time and attention, and since this is similar to Sleigh Ride for me it will likely live in the same space of being a once or twice a year cuppa just for all those good festive feels.

Friendly reminder that I do not numerically rate DAVIDsTEA blends as I’m currently employed there and it would be an obvious conflict of interest. Any blends you see with numerical ratings were rated prior to my employment there. These reviews are a reflection of my personal thoughts and feelings regarding the teas, and not the company’s.
