My immediate thought when I went to sip this tea was of picking out a Christmas tree in December. Something about the aroma just made me think of evergreen trees… though I have no idea why, as this is a turmeric/ginger blend. Roswell mentions a cranberry note, and that would make a bit more sense, but… it still seems piney to me. At least scent-wise.

The flavour is actually not too bad. Typical turmeric earthiness, but it’s balanced by a nice level of ginger, and yeah… sweet juniper-y flavours. Tastes like a palatable version of a sick tea, but that’s probably mostly because of the ginger. Would be interesting to try as a latte – I’d actually probably enjoy it. But not enough to pick up any more.

Another one of the new teas from today’s launch.

I’m not sure if I get this tea: I mean, I understand that turmeric is still HUGE right now as a wellness ingredient/superfood (though I do think it’s plateauing) so it’s not the turmeric that confuses me. I think it’s more that this is a turmeric and fruit blend that doesn’t seem to really have a direction in terms of the fruit profile? So I just don’t get what this tea is trying to achieve in terms of taste…

It tastes like turmeric, it tastes like tangy and tart apples (maybe a hint of cranberry) and it tastes like ginger. Is that the point!? I don’t know. The tartness of the fruit notes definitely is a bit weird to me combined with the spices. I just know that I don’t like it as much as I liked Turmeric Glow or Ginger Beer (the two most comparable teas, IMO). But aside from the distinct stevia note in the finish it’s not really bad – it’s just not my thing.

Friendly reminder that I do not numerically rate DAVIDsTEA blends as I’m currently employed there and it would be an obvious conflict of interest. Any blends you see with numerical ratings were rated prior to my employment there. These reviews are a reflection of my personal thoughts regarding the teas, and not the company’s.
