From Crimson Lotus Tea

Yiwu Shan ( 易武山 )
In the Spring of 2014 my wife and I spent 3 months in Yunnan, China; the home of puerh tea. We walked the Ancient Tea Horse Road, we explored the tea markets, and we visited 6 unique tea mountains. In each of these mountains live traditional minority tea farmers whose families have worked the land cultivating puerh tea for countless generations. This tea was entirely hand picked and hand processed. This tea reflects both the unique regional terroir, and the individual skill of the farmer who is responsible for turning raw leaf into puerh tea.

Yiwu ( pronounced ‘E-Woo’ ) is a very large tea growing area. You could spend an entire decade exploring Yiwu and not experience all of the diversity of tea in this area. The tea from this region was an Imperial Tribute tea to the Chinese Emperor. Yiwu village was a traditional gathering place for the entire area. Tea brought to here begun a long journey on the Tea Horse Road to places as far away as Tibet and Beijing. The tea in this tin was harvested from a tea garden surrounded by flowering trees that give off a deep floral aroma. The tea has absorbed this unique aroma.
