Chrysanthemum
Chang Yun Premium Mini Tuo Cha Puer Tea
This pu-erh tea is composed of a select grade of pu-erh compressed into a small birds nest shape. Its inky brown infusion is rich and sweetly-flavored, with mineral earthiness and the characteristic musty aroma. Our mini tuo cha uses a higher grade of tea than most, resulting in a big body and smooth finish. It hails from Yunnan province, made from the selected tea trees there. Its flavor is mildly sweet. The infusion of this exquisite tea is light brown with a rose hue, yielding the earthy flavor and rich aroma. Each mini tuo cha is individually wrapped and perfect for a small teapot or can be broken apart to accommodate a single serving.

About 5 grams each. Each piece makes 1-5 cups of tea. These little compressed cakes are an easy way to make Pu Erh. Pressed into little moulds and left to ripen for over a year, they have the typical Pu Erh flavour that has become so popular in recent years. Ideal for individual servings. These little cakes are easy to take along and make a nice gift for special occasions.

Brewing Guide: The best temperature to have your water is at 100°C or 212°F and this is simply letting the water reach its boiling point. Pour the water into a mug or cup containing one piece mini Pu-erh cakes and allow the mixture to steep for a short period, usually less than three minutes. The tea gives off a strong sweet aroma with a soft gentle aftertaste. The colour also gives one the right impression that the tea is ready for drinking. Like most pu-erh, one mini tuo cha can be steeped multiple times. (dragon tea house description)

600th tasting note. Also, 90 Oolong Owl blog entries! Crazy!

After some detective work, I was able to figure out what type of tuocha is this is as there is no english on the packaging. That and I was searching ebay for sheng tuochas and came across the brand! I got this tuocha from Meeka at our Steepster meet!

First few infusions are a mix of a sweet on the teeth chrysanthemum (why do I always need to google to spell that?) with the ripe pu’er earth.
Later infusions the floral gets sweeter over the pu’er. Pretty nice!

Last weekend I posted a blog entry of me trying my first tuocha, before I figured out what type it was! http://oolongowl.wordpress.com/2013/05/04/oolong-owls-first-tuocha/
