From Cha Bay

This 2019 competition winning oolong is distinctively Cha Bay. Sit with this one, and its lightly oxidized, bamboo-basket roasted body offers warm calming notes, a true harbor from the cacophony of flavor-enhanced teas flooding the market. It is joy enough to discover a straight-from-the-leaf aroma of toasted bread and jam, paired with the warming medium-yellow liquor of floral notes. But the experience continues with evanescent glints of salinity available to those who quiet the palette to detect the inaudible spirit of tea. Sipdown! (25 | 514)

Enjoying this swap sample grandpa-style today, in my beautiful new glass tumbler from T2! ❤

I always forget how much I enjoy Dong Ding. It has none of the floral character that tends to drive me away from high mountain oolongs (though I know I’m in the minority there). Instead it’s more vegetal and rich with a clear mineral sweetness. This one is slightly roasted, and I’m really enjoying the lightly toasted nut and honey flavors that it brings out. There is a light floral note at the end of the sip, and it lingers into the aftertaste.

Yummy. I’m having a bit of difficulty describing this tea, but I’m really enjoying it. And so perfect for grandpa-style, as oolong almost always is!
