From Capital Teas

This single estate tea represents over 120 years and five generations of family tradition from a tea plantation managed by Francis Van Reyk, the great-great-grandfather of the family owners of Capital Teas. In the 1890’s, Van Reyk, managed the well-known Diyagama Estate in the Dimbula region of Ceylon (present day Sri Lanka). Unaware to him then, would be the five-generations of family tradition in tea that he would begin which is alive and well today on multiple continents.

Capital Teas proudly offers this high quality, BOP Ceylon tea which is directly imported from the very tea estate managed by Van Reyk in the 19th century. Bold and sophisticated, you will find this black tea to be pleasant on its own or with a touch of milk.

The story behind Great Grandfather’s Tea is so compelling, I just had to purchase it just to “brew a cup of history”! This tea is finely milled, so I don’t recommend steeping it for more than 3 minutes. Much like an older relative or that nosy retired neighbor with life experience, this brews a cup that isn’t afraid to speak its mind: it’s bold, sassy, and full of character. I’ve infused it with organic rose petals and the teapot just channels Dowager Violet Crawley from “Downton Abbey”. Great for the mornings, every day. Even the so-called “weekends”.
