Organic Mao Jian

I brewed another cup of this tonight because I enjoyed it so much two days ago. My fiancé came in the room complaining of a headache, so I suggested he have some tea. You know men, when they don’t feel well they act like they’re dying.

He did the whole sick voice thing, “Maybe I’ll have some tea.”

“Okay, what kind of tea do you want?” I asked.

“Green tea.”

Lucky for him, I had just brewed this up. So, I handed him the steaming cup.

“It’s done already?!” he asked surprised.

LOL! Oh, men. I may not be enjoying this tea tonight, but at least someone is. :)

Green tea of the morning here, it’s been a while since I’ve had this one but it’s very vegetal and mostly sweet with a bit of palette cleansing astringency. Definitely a nice green tea to sip on plain (although honestly my favorite greens tend to be Japanese). I love the artichoke, almost savory flavor here.

I’ve been drinking more coffee lately and my back has also started hurting me more. I don’t know if this is a coincidence, but I think I’ll go back to drinking only tea for a while. I’ve read green and white tea are supposed to have anti-inflammatory properties.

I must dislike artichokes. It reminds me of them, very much so and I’ve never really had an opinion on them. My palate is somewhat neutral on that front.
So… I want to like this tea, I really do. I can tell that it’s super high quality, and it is so very smooth! And buttery! Goes down like silk. But I just don’t like it.
Well it’s more of a love hate thing actually. Like a train wreck you can’t look away from so you keep going back for more… keep going back to this trying to figure out what it is about this tea that mystifies me so!
Perhaps it’s how artichoke translates to tea that I don’t like. That almost makes sense to me. Almost.
This is my second time brewing this. The first, I went a bit longer, maybe two-three min. This time I steeped for about a minute. Perhaps brewing temp would make a difference?

Backlog #5: It is time to finish up this sample and I am going to be sad to see it go. It is just a mellow green tea that is great to go with anything. I will have to bring it back to my cupboard one day when I have more money to spend on tea.
