My first review…
The packaging indicates that, besides being imported from Thailand, this blend contains 70% Mulberry and 30% Japanese Green teas, requiring 2-5 minutes brewing time.
After three and a half minutes in the just sub boiling water I remove the tea bag and examine the beverage.
Firstly the colouring and scent is noticeably stronger than the green teas I usually drink, this has darker, earthier elements that I would often expect in Pu’er blends, incidentally also known for their health benefits. Overall it is just about clear enough to make the base of the mug visible, but I think another 30 seconds would change that.
Despite the almost woody aroma, the first taste is both smoother and sweeter than I imagined it would be, with a much lighter aftertaste than something like Pu’er. The Mulberry gives it a fuller flavour than green tea alone, and a light, silky texture that’s the opposite from the more cloying feeling I anticipated on my tongue.
The sweetness becomes more apparent throughout and there’s a slight flavour of berry fruits when it subsides.
