Sorry about your orchid. :-(
I recently got my first orchid- a cute mini phalaenopsis. I doubt I will keep it alive very long since it is on my desk here at work…I’m decent with plants at home but at work I don’t have a great track record.
Orchids are notoriously tough to keep alive, and even if you keep them alive they’re sometimes hard to get to bloom. I was into them for a while but they were too high maintenance to keep up with after I had kids. LOL.
Sad…The Orchid is in my prayers…
I think it could be saved! My mom is an orchid queen (she has several, one around twenty years old) and said to keep the plant, that it should be fine, just to trim where the stem was. And I put the flowers in water. :)
That’s the problem with orchids. They need plenty of light, and unless you have a window nearby at work, Stephanie, and orchid food, who knows what’ll happen.
Yay for saved orchids!
Oddly enough this orchid’s info sheet said it wants low light. There are windows in the room I work in but my desk isn’t close to them…I dunno about the orchid food though. Heh.
Ah, well, I’ve heard and read that they usually need a lot of light, but never direct sunlight. And as for the food/fertilizer, from what I know, you do that about once a month. I had a mini one too a couple years ago and it was doing fine, but then I had to move about two months later, so it was hard to tell what truly worked for it.
