This was a wonderful sample from my dearest swedish chef (fjellrev)….She sent me a lovely package of teas that i haven’t had from bayswater including this one. I started with this one because i figured it would be my least favourite. Heh Coconut and i are not usually friends. This coconut is the sort of coconut that isn’t that awful rancid turning sort. If there was ever a coconut to love, it would likely be this type. That being said, i don’t love this tea because it IS a little too coconutty for me. I really enjoyed the aroma of this one though. Appreciate the share though my dear swedish chef! Looking forward to all of the goodies :) No rating because i think coconut fans would like this one!

It’s hard to believe that I got this over two months ago and I still haven’t written about it despite drinking it several times already.

So. Coconut. Love the stuff. The dry leaf smells like an actual coconut macaroon. Has that fluffy, sugary, almost almond cookie-ish thing going on behind the natural coconut note. Almond, you say? Kind of like almond extract. Do coconut macaroons even have almond extract in them? I just did a quick search for a few recipes and sure enough, some of them do. Learn something everyday.

And what do you know, the tea actually tastes like the scent. Marvelous! That rarely happens, especially when you want it to. It’s even better with some half and half. Makes the coconut ultra creamy.

Obviously, I shall be purchasing more in the future. Not hoarding this one either. No siree.

That sounds like a real coconut wow :-)

Fjellrev

Oh yeah, anyone who loves coconut ought to try this.

Thank you Fjellrev for sharing some of this with me. To be honest, of the samples you sent, I have sort of been pushing this one off since something about the name had me worried this would be either too much like a pina colada or perhaps it could go another way and taste lotiony. Thankfully, this tea is neither of those two things but with that said, I am still not loving it. It is good but compared to the other Bayswater teas, this is just not up to par. The base is present and smooth which pairs with the smooth coconut flavor but I just can’t help but feel like this needs something more. Perhaps I am spoiled by all the other fuller flavors I have tried, but this just seems weak.

Fjellrev

I find that the macaroon flavours really wake up with milk, especially half and half. But I know you must be really watching what you’re using as additives. :) I can’t remember what this was like plain, but yeah, probably not nearly as good without the milk.
