From Art of Tea

Fresh leaves from a supreme organic Gyokuro green tea are stone ground into a fine powder. In the traditional Japanese tea ceremony, Matcha, literally “powdered tea,” is elegantly delivered by bamboo spoon into a bowl of hot water, then whipped with a bamboo whisk into a frothy, rich brew sipped right from the bowl. Renowned for its health benefits and versatile attributes in fine dining.

Water Temperature: 180 F degrees
Caffeine Content: Medium
Steep Time: 1 teaspoon per 3oz of water best enjoyed when frothed and fully whisked.
Ingredients: Stone Ground Tencha Green Tea
Origin: Uji Gardens, Japan

Additional Art of Tea’s Tip: Whisk the Matcha well with a Bamboo whisk and break up any small lumps with the tip of your whisk while whisking tea. This assures the most optimal flavor and a smooth and creamy texture.

This was my first matcha. Has a distinct, grassy (almost seaweed) sort of aroma. Unique feel in the mouth due to drinking the the entire leaf, rather than just steeped water. Very mildly bitter, but refreshing. More than just a tea. An experience. Would recommend and I will be exploring more matchas because of this.

Backlog. Apparently the difference in making matcha versus regular tea doesn’t trigger the “hey, I should log this” actions in my brain :D

I am perfectly happy with this matcha, it whisks up nicely. A little bit clumpy at times, but only when working in primitive conditions (ie work!).

I fall short on logging matcha as well. I’m not sure what it is…
