SIPDOWN! (305) another one from kittylovestea that i was excited to try! Bagged tea be damned, this is a REALLY nice strawberry tea. I think this would make a darn good latte as well! I may have to do some digging to see if i can find a box of this is any of my stores around here just to have these to tuck away at work since bagged seems to be the way to go. I for sure lost track of steeping this one and it didn’t become bitter/astringent.

Thank you kitty!

Try checking out an international grocery store that sells middle eastern goods. Ahmad is a very popular brand in Persian households, and larger stores should carry a pretty big variety of their tea. I recommend their cardamom tea if you can’t find the strawberry.

Thanks fiddling, appreciate the tip :)

I avoided strawberry tea for the longest time as I expected to hate it. Gmathis sent a Cheapster Steepster award winner of a strawberry tea bag my way and changed my mind. Now this one is one I had planned to buy the first time I saw it. Ahmad is my favorite company for tea bag tea as they just seem to get it right more often than not. Before I could find it Brett sent this my way. I opened the envelope and swore I had just opened a box strawberries out of the fridge. Awesome. Steeped for 4 or 5 minutes. The taste is lighter than the smell but it is pretty close to the real deal. I like that it is light enough to taste the tea. It gets bonus points for that. If you are going to drink bagged tea it might as well be a good one. I will still buy this when I see it in the store. High yum factor. 85 is pretty high for a bagged but worth it to my taste buds.

Got to add the smell while the cup is sitting reminds me of Strawberry Newtons. It’s making me hungry.

Must…search…some…out….

K S

Did I mention the smell? :) I think it’s worth the price of admission just for that.

That sounds lovely. Gmathis, maybe Brits in Lawrence has it. They carry Ahmad.

I have got to figure out an excuse to go to Lawrence—a friend of mine has raved and raved at what a fun store it is. (Seems like she told me they had some kind of Brit block party this fall…sounded like fun.)

Nicole

It’s a fun town when the weather is nice. Lots of neat shops all along one or two main drags. Parades every weekend it seems like. Plus, tea! :)

tealightful!

is this the same as Ahmad’s Strawberry Sensation? i think it’s just been renamed/repackaged.

i like Ahmad’s of London, they seem to offer such a nice variety of flavored teas, mainly fruit-flavored ones. i was craving strawberry in a black tea for some reason, probably because i never got to try Teavana’s Strawberry Slender Pu-erh & Weight-to-go (these names are atrocious!) both of which contain strawberry & the loose leaf just looks so darned good. also perhaps because i’m already oversteeped in gourmand, vanillary creme caramel dessert-type teas (not that i’ll ever forsake them) ;p so i am looking for a black with sweetness, but from that imparted by fruit this time.

i think this is perfect for what it is. the strawberry is dead on. nothing artificial about the strawberry flavor (unless of course any artificiality is masterfully concealed). it’s just delicious! from the aroma to the flavor, strawberry never leaves your side. it’s a pleasant companion and a most juicy additive to this delicate infusion. the black tea base is quite nice but does get a little bitter though, but maybe i’m at fault for oversteeping. (i went a little over 5 minutes and i think they recommend 4, tops.)

i’m sure a spot of milk (in my case- almond, soy, coconut or rice) will camouflage this & round out the flavor a bit more, and make—yes, you guessed it—-a nice, creamy strawberry muffin or strawberry shortcake parfait. i had to go there (dessert territory).

tangential: i googled Piccadilly trifle, because i love trifle and wondered if Piccadilly was a flavor. as it turns out, it’s a circus! anyway, there was a nice link to a Pinterest page in the search results titled ‘Pretty Parfaits for Tea’…. have a look-see! http://www.pinterest.com/jinab/pretty-parfaits-for-tea/

as for this tea, i’d recommend it. it’s freakin’ yummy!

I love this one. Bought couple weeks ago. Drank almost every night.

Last night I took my steeper apart to clean it out, but managed to break it instead. So today I’m drinking bagged tea in the office. Frankly, this tea is so good I don’t really notice much of a difference.

After seeing Sil’s review of this tea, I knew I had to try it out. I checked out a few stores that carry Ahmad, but couldn’t find this one. I finally tracked this down in a store that carries grocery goods from the UK (as well as Dr. Who and Downton Abbey memorabilia) and ended up picking up a few varieties of Ahmad’s flavored tea. Spoiler alert – they are all phenomenal!

I REALLY love the black tea used in these bags. I grew up drinking Ahmad’s straight black tea, so maybe nostalgia factors in a little bit. But in all honesty, it’s perfectly strong without being astringent. The strawberry flavor is sweet and juicy. There is a candy-like quality to it, but not in a terribly artificial way. This is a really nicely done tea. Love it!

isn’t it good? i mean for a bagged tea it’s pretty darn tasty :)

I bought Ahmad’s variety pack of flavored black teas, and they are all just as awesome. Their apricot is just as good (or maybe even better) than H&S’s loose version.

Sil

ooohh…. wonder if i can find them here…

It’s a fairly warm day which is probably the only chance of a dry day this summer so to take advantage of this I pulled out the fruity tea. Voila, strawberry tea screams summer.

Colour: Dark brown.
Smell: Strawberry gummy sweets but with a hint of darkness.

A lovely fruity tea with a fairly strong and yummy taste of sweet strawberry. It still reminds me of the gummy strawberry sweets you can buy in flavour but the sweetness is not over powering because of the black tea. It’s a good black tea with a little bitterness and a decent strength.

I’m not normally a fan of fruit teas in teabags. Herbal ones I don’t mind, but for some reason I always seem to find fruit ones really bitter. However, Kittylovestea sent me a sample of this in our recent swap, and it would have been bad manners not to drink it.

I am glad I did. It actually tasted of Strawberry, and the black tea was just the right foil to the sweetness that was coming across. Still an amount of bitterness, but not unpleasant in this instance. Whether that’s the tea or my tastes changing, I’m not sure, but it doesn’t really matter does it?

This tea has a candy-like aroma, but a more fruity taste. The strawberry flavor tastes natural, and is rather mild, and does not overwhelm the black tea. I actually wish the fruit taste was a bit stronger. It has a somewhat bitter finish, though this may be because I steeped it for four minutes instead of the recommended three.

Ahmad teas tend to not like those long steeps.

I have a little loose-leaf tin of this tucked away, and it has the sweetest, most wonderful strawberry smell. However as it typical of fruit-flavoured black teas, the flavour doesn’t copy over exactly! After making this iced earlier today I had a little hot tea left over for a tasting; and, black, brewed strong, it has a lot of astringency to get past before finding the fresh, malty fruit notes in this. It’s unlike a fruit tea where the fruit is just an afterthought; it definitely works alongside the black tea, although that might take a strong brew to discover.

Quite a nice tea. Smells like a strawberry candy but tastes like a black tea with a strawberry essence.

I love this strawberry black tea. I’ve tried quite a few others and none of them get the strawberry quite right—at worst, sometimes it’s slightly chemical. This one actually tastes like strawberry, and the black tea comes through, too.
