From Adagio Teas

Milk Oolong is a relatively new cultivar in the delicious world of Taiwanese teas and is prized for its inherent cream and butter notes. Lower quality versions have these notes enhanced through aromatization but the finest, true Milk Oolongs offer lightly roasted, rolled leaves that yield a light-bodied cup with sweet buttery texture and delicate floral aroma. Also called Jin Xuan or Golden Lily, it is ideal for multiple infusions and a dedicated Yixing teapot.

Subtle notes of toasted barley, some honey, fresh hay, fresh mowed summer grass. But as expected, palate is the star. Very creamy, full, satisfying and mouth coating.

This was my first tea of the day today.

I was thankful to have something soft and silky to begin my work week with because, after the very busy feeling of last week, I wasn’t looking to set the tone of the day in the same brash way as I had the Monday prior. I got hints of coconut alongside a creamy floral flavour.

Really, my only criticism today is also simultaneously a compliment. I picked this out because a part of me thought what I wanted in the moment was more of that fake-y tasting butter/condensed milk flavour some flavoured/scented milk oolongs have. I didn’t get that today though, but I think what I did get was nicer.

I wasn’t a huge fan of this. It was okay, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to drink it. It was really interesting how it was creamy and also had a hint of coconut.

No bitter notes, just soothing, light, milky, flowery, creaminess. Very mellow taste, milky aroma. Great morning tea. I only wish I could get more infusions out of it. It loses taste pretty fast.

A wonderful light oolong— pleasantly nutty without being overpowering. Oolongs can sometimes taste metallic, but this one was wonderfully full-bodied without being metal-ish. Thank you to AdagioTea in Old Orchard Mall for the great brew.
