From 52teas

Following the HUGE success we had with our Strawberry Zabaglione, I decided we should offer a blueberry version.

Here’s our premium Indian black teas blended with real (HUGE!) freeze-dried blueberries and natural flavors. This is a truly delicious combination of creamy zabaglione and blueberries with great black tea.

OK. So, this is the tea that convinced me that there was such a thing as a great flavored black tea that wasn’t the ever popular Earl Gray. It’s also the tea that convinced me that I did actually like black tea very much, but I first had to learn brewing parameters that I liked. You see this was the first tea I had ever purchased from 52Teas (a couple years ago now ?) and when I first brewed it (boiling water, maybe 10 min?), I thought it was bitter and couldn’t reconcile the awful taste to the great reviews I was reading about 52Teas. Before this I thought that to make tea you just pour boiling water over the tea and let it steep the entire time you’re drinking it, but I kept reading about people taking their tea bags out after so many minutes and not letting their water hit boiling. So, I started experimenting with water temperature and steep time. And, when I got it right, the flavor just popped and there was no bitterness. It was the first time I realized that temperature and time really did matter for black tea. And, Blueberry Zabaglione became my favorite black tea. Still is one of my favorites. The creamy blueberry flavor is just really good and absolutely terrific iced. And, the flavors do not have the artificial aftertaste present in so many flavored teas. I’m so glad to see it reblended if only temporarily. So, I’m finally finishing the last of my first bag, which I had been hording :) It ages quite well by the way. Tastes just as delicious as I remember.

Big thanks to Josie Jade for the sample of this!!

I wanted to love it because I’m a big fan of Davidstea Blueberry Jam, so I thought some kind of baked good notes would only add to my happiness with a blueberry tea.

Admission – I have no idea what zabaglione is, (SOME zabaglione? A zabaglione??) so maybe I don’t know what to look for in the notes of this blend, but I’m really only getting blueberry with a hint of something sweet in the background. Is it a decent blueberry tea? Sure! But it doesn’t really taste like cake or pastry or anything else that I imagine zabaglione must be.

I’d love to try the Blueberry Cream Cheese Danish one, that might be more my speed.

This was perfectly pleasant, but not mindblowing.
So far, Della Terra is the king of flavoured teas which all others need to bow down before!

Sil

not sure how you steeped it but just under boiling and 2mins seems to be the sweet-er spot for for the zabaglione’s

ohfancythat

I probably left it a bit longer than 2 min, I figured since it’s a black tea I’d be ok with 3-4. I only had a sample though so either way it’s all gone now!

This tea blend has only a few blueberries in the whole pouch, which was a little disappointing. The tea is a little bitter until sugar is added, and then it becomes a nice strong, blueberry cup. I almost didn’t add any milk, but oh once I did it became so delicious! Adding milk really perfects the flavor of this tea and brings out nice creamy notes and a fresh blueberry flavor. The blueberry flavor smells a little artificial, but the berry taste is nice enough. It’s the cream and hefty black tea that really makes this one a winner!

-Dry blend has medium size black tea leaves and a few blueberries.
-Dry leaves smell of strong black tea and sweet blueberries. Tea liquor aroma is of artificial blueberries.
-Tea liquor is a clear orange brown color with a shiny film on top.
-Soft whipped cream flavor with a strong blueberry malty finish.
-Best with milk and sweetener.
-Very good tea. Creamy with the sweetness of fresh blueberries.

This has been my iced tea for two days now. I love, love, love the blueberry flavor. It is perfect, and as an iced tea it’s very refreshing. I’m not as big a fan of the cream flavor. It isn’t bad. I just find myself wanting less of it and more of the blueberry. Guess I’m a blueberry purist. :)

Two listings for this tea on here… since this is the one onto which most people are logging, I figured I’d log here too. This tea is absolutely yum. The blueberries are huge and plump up big and juicy after infusing.

Delicious blueberry flavor, sweet, creamy background. Very nice.

I received a sample of this in a swap with silvermage2000. Thank you so much for sending this one…..It is always so much fun to try one of 52 teas blends that I missed.

The blueberry is great. I found this one to be slightly less creamy and buttery than Blueberry Cream Cheese Danish, but now I must beg Frank for another blueberry tea! Please, Frank!

I’m feeling kind of out of it tonight so I took the chance and brewed up a black tea for the evening. I actually chose this because I saw Indigobloom’s review of Strawberry Zabaglione while my water was heating up. And it’s a good thing that I read it so I knew to keep the temp and steeping time down.

When you open the bag, it definitely shouts blueberry. That’s a good sign. The brewed tea maintains that strong scent. I was a little worried because it brought to mind that Disney tea I tried a few months ago, but I have more faith in Frank than that.

Plain, there is a bitterness that Indigobloom also notices in the Strawberry Zabaglione. Like her, I found that a half teaspoon of sugar solved that issue nicely. And a splash of milk adds to the creaminess of the flavour I think. I’m really enjoying this mug, and hopefully it will stand to another steeping. More importantly, I hope it keeps me going till I finish what I have to do and still lets me sleep tonight (finger crossed).

Thank you Meghann M. for some of this to try. I drank a cup last night. Yes the blueberries are big. This is a very good tea the blueberries in this have just abit of tartness. The creaminess is nice and just the right amount. The black tea is there to and very nice. Thank you Meghann M. for letting me try this tea!

This tea is like a sweet buttery pastry !! I don’t normally add sugar to my tea. Milk, yes, but I usually like my teas unsweetened. This tea, however, really comes to life with milk and sugar.

This was a one cup sample that did not have freeze-dried blueberries but the scent is definitely there. I had Lupicia’s blueberry black tea this morning and the two are different. At first my impression was Lupicia had more blueberry but that is because it is one note. However, I did hope Blueberry Zab would be more creamy (I don’t know how old this sample is, so that may be a factor). The Strawberry Zab was more dessert-like and to my liking but I am glad for the sample.
