If it weren’t for this tea being about 3-4 years old, I would probably have liked it a little more. That being said, the tea had a very herbal fragrance (think traditional chinese medicine store smell), and an obvious sweetness to the brew. My personal feeling is that no tea should come pre-sweetened (I know a great deal of people who would disagree!!). So, I’m going to have to go with my personal and highly subjective (and possibly misinformed due to the tea’s age) opinion, and say this tea was not one I would want to be sipping throughout the day. If I were sick on the other hand, and this was my medicine, I would be happy to take it!

The red date is probably the reason for the sweetness. Dates are pretty much pure sugar. I’d love to try this tea. The mix of herbs is very intriguing.

This tea has a pleasant smell and taste. No doubt, this would probably make an excellent iced tea. The green tea in this is almost indistinguishable from the flavors of the berries and passion fruit. The passion fruit gives this a lovely taste and smell. There is also, despite not being present in the tea’s ingredients, a slight guava taste.

drank Jade Oolong by MEM Tea Imports

Unbelievable striking taste. Notes of fresh cut grass, floral, and bright. A hint of astringency (nothing to worry about), but mostly mellow. Perfect balance to be a sipping tea, not too strong, but not subtle. I bring this tea with me for the whole day in the black sealed airtight bag that MEM tea sells its tea in. Very calming and perfect at just under 185 degrees. It was an expensive tea, but so worth it! Jade Oolong is to Chinese teas what Gyokuro is to Japanese teas: far superior to most other greens and oolongs.

A nice sipping tea from KC Chen and the Bihlu Organic Tea Farm. The tea actually does not have much of a honey taste to it, but it has a pleasant aftertaste.

This made a pretty bloom, but unfortunately, this is not the connoisseur’s tea. The teas in the primula line have been subpar so far, but are beautiful when they bloom. This would make for a nice afternoon tea to sip, but it has a bit of a strange taste and does not bode well cup after cup. Others (and so does the package) have claimed that the tea does well in subsequent steeps, but unfortunately it doesn’t become any better, but it doesn’t get any worse in taste after the first steep, maybe more diluted is all.
