17 Tasting Notes
nam lahn op black vietnamese tea.
organic
no matter how long you let this step, it won’t get bitter.
buy this locally, from a tea museum, and usually in 500gr. bags.
perfect everyday afternoon tea. nothing special, just a good cup of tea.
Preparation
ctc tea. mix of assam/kenya black tea.
best in the world IMHO.
very smooth, no tannine. strong, comforting cuppa.
cannot be without. buy per 500gr/1 kg.
order next batch when less than 150 gr. left in my home.
no 1. on my take-with-me-on-a-desert-island list!
Preparation
extremeley sweet.
I am not into honeybush at all, but it’s dark outside, I am tired and haven’t had a proper sleep in days, so when I saw this in a discount store, I just tossed it into my basket and never gave it a second thought. Expected a warm vanilla black tea smell. Mehh. very sweet honeybush and no vanilla at all.
It tastes o.k. Will finish the 15 bags and won’t be buying again. Maybe use the rest up in the evening during flu season.
Preparation
DArjeeling fan here, who usually (over) spends dearly on 1st flushes, and rare summer picks.
Went out for another tea, and had to pick another tea to go with it. (promotion sales) to get one for free. Was not particulary interested in the teas that were offered, so in the end went for this bagged organic Darjeeling.
Never seen this brand here before.
Downside: o.k. it’s bagged. :( not my fave pick.
Plus: it’s one of the best bagged teas I had, and for a Darjeeling, it’s pretty darn good.
Will def. buy again when I need a quick brew at work or when commuting.
Preparation
yummy….
paid a mere 3.25 euros for 450gr at a local store, and didn’t expect much of it, as I just needed a Ceylon (make my own breakfast blends).
Well, I guess I am in for a surprise….
wonderful smooth golden cup with honey-sweet aftertaste. No astringency at all.
Preparation
water 80C-95C
steep time ca. 2 min.
1.5 gr per cup, 8 gr. for pot
The tea has a very, almost woody, and strong smell.
small black curly tea with golden tips.
1. steep : odd taste, like porridge. Not at all what I expected. Not sure if i am going to like this. Malty taste lingers for minutes. mmm, odd….
2. steep: malty taste still there, but not as strong as in 1st steep, replaced by nutty, sweet taste. plums, raisins and honey.
3. steep: still going strong, mellow taste stays, woody and chocolate more prominent.
I could easily get more steeps, but decided not to. Still amazed by the complexity of the tea.
extraordinary black tea with a malty, nutty and mellow taste.
