If you’re looking for top quality tea, this is not the place.

They scoop loose leaf tea into a teabag and serve it to you in a giant cup. Once it was a paper fast food cup which was very offputting. The second time was in a giant mug on a saucer – classier, but still not prepared the way you’d like in a nice tea shop.

I’ve had some sort of black tea with mango in it, as well as ginseng honey green tea. They were better than the boxed tea you get at the supermarket, but not much better. I think the giant jars they keep the tea in prevent ideal freshness.

I had a chocolate chip scone on my second visit, which was very tasty. They have other sorts of desserts. High tea is also offered from 3:30 to 5:30pm I believe, but I have not experienced this.

As a place to just hang out, read, and see what’s happening it is a unique little spot. The Candler Park location is a nice getaway from the hustle and bustle of mainstream Atlanta.

Overall, it is worth a visit if you live in the area. The staff is nice and they do have a reasonable selection. Just don’t expect to have your mind blown by the tea itself – and expect a “coffee shop” kind of vibe.

It’s fairly dirty in an old, kitschy kind of way. I was not impressed with my tea (black currant cardamom) because he put a spoonful in a bag and the cup was overwhelmingly huge.

The best part? It smelled and tasted acidic sour, like vomit. Many of the books on the shelves have damage or even mold on them. I can’t bring myself to come here ever again.

Great tea selection and atmosphere. I’ve visited this shop many times and am never disappointed! They have amazing house-made chai and offer a few different afternoon tea options. The shop itself is eclectic and relaxed. The back patio is a great place to sit and read on sunny days. Definitely check out their monthly India dinners, too!

A teeny-tiny little tea spot in Candler Park, Dr. Bombay’s Underwater Tea Party could’ve been a contender. Sadly, it’s not. There’s not ample seating, and despite the containers of loose leaf teas displayed, teas I ordered on two separate occasions were bagged teas. Unlike some other tea houses, there was no timer included to know when tea had reached its optimal steeping point. I didn’t try the “tea for two”, but I may on another visit. The place had some dynamite scones and cupcakes though. The biggest drawback (or to some, the biggest attraction) is that right around 3:00pm, the place turns into Dr. Bombay’s Underwater Day Care Center. Kids and parents come spilling in for ice cream and turn a quaint, quirky cafe into a boisterous romper room of activity. Kinda makes it hard to enjoy a contemplative cup of tea in that kind of a setting.
