I’ve been here twice. I love the atmosphere, it’s just like an Old Victorian style house and each room has a different color theme with coordinating floral arrangements and decorations. They also have hats avaliable for you to wear during your tea.
The food is your traditional tea-time fare: finger sandwiches, scones with fresh homemade whipped cream (mine was tinted lavender), salads. Cake, pie, and ice cream are avaliable for dessert.
Sugar’s has a nice long list of different teas to try from, I’ve had the Formosa Oolong and the Irish Breakfast, and both are very delicious.
Each table has mismatched antique teacups and saucers, and each teapot is different and beautiful. Also, handmade fabric napkins are wrapped around the flatware.
I haven’t been to any, but apparently they do have special event teas; I believe they’ve had a “Harry Potter” themed tea around the time the last movie came out, and they have Valentine’s Day and Celtic Tea parties also.
My only complaint is that they seem to keep odd hours, and are only open for a few hours on the few days that they are open. However, it’s definitely worth a visit for a nice get-together with the girls or for a nice special treat for yourself.
