Definite smoky flavor, reminds me of smoked ham almost. The smoke flavor is strong, putting me off at first, but it does sort of bring you to a memory of a campfire. I would like to try it in a latte, to dim the smoky flavor. I

drank Vanilla Matcha by DAVIDsTEA

It’s my first matcha made with water. Vanilla matcha smells earthy and grassy with a hint of sweetness. The colour is murky brown. The flavor is not as strong or grassy as I expected. It has a definite vegetal aroma, reminiscent of the jungle. Warms up my thoat like soup. It’s nice and comforting, not sweet. I added agave syrup after and doesnt change much. The after-aroma is similar to what I smelled before brewing. I think it might be much better as a latte.

To start, I am not a fan of minty and hot at the same time, or cold for the matter. I just don’t enjoy swallowing unsweetened peppermint because it reminds me of toothpaste. (candy canes and After Eights are another story). Having said that, I actually like Read my Lips from DavidsTea and find that this tea is a tone-downed Read my lips. It’s got the same tastes, the mintyness is not so overpowering, and it’s chocolatey. It’s perfect for when you want Read My Lips without the caffeine!! I brewed 24 oz, but I dont think I will finish the cup. And I don’t enjoy the mintyness of the cold tea at all, since it really reminds me of brushing my teeth, and the chocolate flavor is extremely faint.

It smells delicious, but that’s about it. It steeped really bitter, and I did try multiple ways : with agave, without, as a latte, pure, and all ways I found it bitter and didn’t like it. I found it tasted burnt. I ended up using the rest to marinate chicken, attempting to give it a smoky flavor. It was OK but as a marinade didn’t really flavor much.

I only had it hot and it tastes really good, like mango and peach and a hint of tartness. I only had the sample pack (5g made one cup). I wish I had more to taste it cold! I ate a chocolate almond and almond biscotti with it and the flavors matched really well . The black tea flavor is not too prominent – just right!

drank Coffee Cake by DAVIDsTEA

I like it, it’s sweet like coffee cake, very mild. I forgot I was steeping it and 10 mins later the tea was still tasty, it doesn’t become bitter or strong like other black teas. I actually ate it with coffee cake! nice match :)
