drank Raspberry Green by Adagio Teas

When I opened the ziplock bag, this tea knocked me over with a very pungent, very artificial raspberry smell. It was almost enough to make me close it back up without trying it, and it was definitely enough to make me regret buying 3 ounces before buying a sample.

Once brewed, the cheap candy-like smell does dissipate quite a bit. It’s definitely more drinkable than I thought it would be based on the smell of the dry leaves. But it doesn’t bowl me over, and I definitely won’t buy it again. Something tells me this might work out better as an iced tea, so maybe I will try that soon.

drank Cream by Adagio Teas

I can’t really keep cream at work, as our fridge gets emptied weekly, so I thought this might be a nice tea to have that suggests creaminess without having to actually add it.

I wouldn’t say this does it. It’s a sweet, mild black. The cream flavoring doesn’t taste overly artificial, but doesn’t taste very natural either. I’ll drink the rest of the package, but probably won’t buy it again.

This is a nice sweet and fun tea. I drank it as “dessert” this evening, and that is kind of what it’s perfect for.

I usually try to avoid bagged tea, but this one intrigued me so I figured I’d give it a try. One bag per 6 ounces of water is recommended, but since I was using a larger mug (around 9-10 ounces of water) I threw two bags in for more flavor. I think one and a half bags would have been sufficient, but two bags was nice and robust.

There was not too much of a medicinal flavor that can sometimes happen with rooibos. Not to mention that, plus the beet bits, gave the tea a lovely deep red color. The added flavoring gave sweetness without tasting too artificial, which is always a gamble. While I drank it plain, adding a touch of milk or cream and sugar would make it pretty decadent.

I bought a bunch of flavored teas from Adagio looking for some bright flavors to mix up my work day with. Many of them were disappointing in how artificial they tasted.

This one, on the other hand, is delightful. Light and sweet with a hint of orange flavor, but not in a way that tastes like cheap candy. Whoever was in charge of this tea’s development needs to give some tips to the rest of the team.

I love oolongs (especially milk oolongs), floral teas of all kinds, and the well done fruity tea blend or tisane.
