7 Tasting Notes

I am usually not a fan of white tea. But my cousin was drinking silver needle from adagio when I was in the mood for some tea tonight. So I made myself a cup of this tea. The color of the tea was definitely misleading because the taste was quite strong from the light color. It was a light tasting tea without any particular aroma. But after the tea passed thru my throat, there was a returning sweetness in the mouth. I was told that tea like this is good. Since I am not a fan of white tea, I’m not rating this tea just to be fair.

Tried this tea tonight. It’s very jasmine, to the point that I am second guessing whether the flavor is really natural. I’ve tasted natural jasmine tea made by blending green tea with jasmine flower. I didn’t find any flower in this tea but the jasmine taste was very strong. I can remember the flower blended green tea I had before was not nearly as strong. I am not an expert. But I still can’t believe this tea is organic and naturally scented.

I like the sweetness and smoothness of this tea. It was still good after I let it cooled to room temperature, a definite plus for me. I had this tea steeped in a mug and gongfu style. It stood up well both ways. I’ve recommended this tea to a few friends already.

I made a cup of this tea with the sample pack I got from DeRen Tea today. I smelled the tea before I steep it and it was a little vegetal and a little floral. The tea was light golden yellow. The aroma was creamy? or buttery? or somewhere inbetween, with a hint of floral sweetness. The taste was light, clean, and a little buttery initially. I didn’t taste the floral note with the tea in my mouth. But after I swallow the tea, there was a floral aftertaste in my mouth. It was quite interesting. It was a pleasant surprise. It was… great.

I ran out of tea at work so I had to bring some tea with me to the office today. I randomly grabbed something on my way out this morning and it was the Golden Yunnan from Adagio I bought a while ago. So I steeped a teaspoon this morning and it wasn’t a tea I would hold in my hand like I would with tea I like during break time. I did finish the whole cup but I didn’t resteep it. The taste of this tea was a little different from other Yunnan black tea I’ve drank. It’s missing the smooth, comforting, soothing sensation I get from my other Yunnan black. Well. I am putting another tea in my purse now.

This tea was recommend to me by Aaron who runs DeRen. I have my cousin made this tea gongfu style and we both liked it. The orchard aroma was there the moment we pour the tea into our cups. The tea itself is yellow, slightly orange. The orchard smell was more obvious when the tea cooled a bit. The tea had the same light pleasant sweet orchard taste in the mouth. There is a little tiny bit of bitterness. But it actually made the tea more balanced, more complete for me. I like this tea and thanks Aaron for suggesting this tea.
