Without a doubt one of the finest companies I’ve come across. Their customer service is exceptional and fast, and they really understand internet culture. From free samples to awarding frequent cup points towards a gift certificate, they’re doing everything right in generating repeat business. The tea itself is well-kept, shipped quickly, and tastes great!
Every so often the website is a little awkward to navigate, and there isn’t a mobile site or native app, so that’s the only downside I have found, IMO.
I have made a point to stop by this shop every time I go to Chicago. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and immensely laid-back while still helpful. I only wish that there was a standalone Adagio store closer to where I live!
I first stopped by here due to a workshop on making marsala chai teas, and as he talked, the handful of us enjoyed various recipes/blends and techniques. The proprietor’s knowledge was vast on the subject, and I was grateful for the opportunity to learn from him. The business itself is small but cozy, and once I feel less guilty about buying tea elsewhere when I have so much to make at home, I plan to stop by more often for a more complete experience. However, it’s a little difficult to get to (you’d drive right by if you weren’t looking for it), and the parking is quite limited.
My rating primarily comes from the opportunity to sit and enjoy a cup or pot of tea, an eclectic, inviting environment in which to visit or simply people watch. There are plenty of flavors to choose from from the cafe side, although not nearly as many to purchase to take home. The staff seems friendly enough, but the few times I’ve gone there, they were fair-to-middling on customer service, that had I not been familiar with my own tastes and preferences in tea, I’m uncertain as to the degree of assistance they’d been able to provide in directing me toward something I would enjoy.
This place can seem a little intimidating if you initially don’t know what to look for, but the staff is helpful and informative. The selection they have covers a range of preferences, all of which is quality. There isn’t a place to sit down and enjoy a cup of brewed tea, but it’s not exclusively a tea shop. I stop by a handful of times per year to stock up (yes, in bulk) on my favorites.
