this tea delivers a smooth cup with almost no aftertaste and the caffeine content seems higher than average too. however, i am honestly not sure how to describe the flavor of this one. it surely has a flavor because even with extra sugar, the tea flavor remains unaltered and the sweet flavor i want never shows up. perhaps the word for the flavor is whatever the opposite of malty is, unsure, but it is definitely not weak. i made 3 full pots and 2 more cups of varying strength and steeping time. i simply could not find a combination i would want to drink everyday. i also sent it to my girlfriends house who lives with 2 other tea drinkers and the only person who drank it more than once in that house was me and it was only because she kept making it for me since she thought i wanted her to do so…

further, this blend is made without any teas from africa and i am wondering if that may be what is missing for me in the flavor. (i ended up combining the remaining 5+ tbsp with an equal portion of taylors of harrogate pure assam and then added a small amount of scottish breakfast as well.)

did not enjoy this hot, but i really like it as brewed iced tea!!

i have tried a few different brewing methods now and the flavor is delicious each time. bringing the water to boil with tea and straining after it cools seems to work best for tea flavor, but boiling the water and pouring over sugar and then steeping the tea works better for sweetened tea.

i have enjoyed this tea quite a bit. cannot say i enjoy the super small pieces that seep through the infuser, but i do enjoy the tea. edit: unfortunately, the product i received seems to be going stale a little faster than i am happy with so i may not buy this one again.

today, i brewed this leaf blend as well as a bagged EB blend from another company. this tea is not for me. this blend was not very malty, seemed to have very weak caffeine content and was also much lighter in color. it might be ok for an evening cup though. it did taste nice with milk and sugar.
i will use up what i have and perhaps try it iced to make it go faster, but it just is not enough to get me going in the morning.

i enjoyed this bagged tea almost exclusively for over 10 years. i reluctantly tried other teas over that decade, but this brew served my needs and i still have 3×20 boxes from my last amazon shipment in november so i still drink it at least once a week.
today, i brewed this as well as an EB leaf blend from another company. twinings was the maltier brew, had stronger caffeine content and was also much darker in color. my gf likes this blend with milk, no sugar, so if you enjoy tea that way, you may enjoy this blend too. however, now that i have experience with several other teas, i realize that this twinings blend does not combine as well with milk and sugar so i have committed to using up what i have left and moving on.

to be honest, i did not like this tea the first few tries and it is probably better by the cup than by the pot because over brewing this tea is a not good thing. however, as i have tried several more blends during the last 7 weeks, i have come back to this at least once a week and will continue to do so if for nothing other than value. it is not the most flavorful tea blend around, but it does taste pretty darn good with sugar and milk. plus, it is definitely strong enough to start the engines.

my first steepster tasting note. after more than a decade of marriage and bagged twinings EB by the cup, i am branching out and it turns out that with tea, i really am easy to please. cannot claim a favorite tea blend just yet, but i am convinced this will remain high on my list. the flavors in this tea are elusive; or i am just not very discerning. in any event, my first cup this morning was just about perfect and the second cup, still steeping in the pot was also pretty good. yes, there is an aftertaste with this tea, but that flavor is what keeps me reaching for my cup. there was a less flavorful aftertaste with the third cup, but you would be less so too after 30 minutes in boiling water. this is probably important: i always drink with whole milk and 2 spoons of sugar and i also keep my steeping teapot covered while drinking.
