One of the worst aged Dancong’s I have had. Its bitter in the bad way, slightly sickly floral and that is about it.

This review is for the 2011. This tea was recommended to me by Iannon who also reviewed this tea. For me, the was the best Shincha of 2011, even beating my usual favorite from Ippodo. Most Uji shincha this season seemed to lack umami altogether and was week on sweetness, this one had both. Like all shincha, it was astringent and slightly bitter –in a the good way.

It is OK. Comparable to Koyamaen’s $10 matcha. Considering this tea is made by Koyamaen, it might actually be the exact same tea. Good basic matcha, but not a lot of interest. No Umami, just a little sweet.

drank Golden Monkey by Teavana

This tea is terrible, at least for the price. Unlike your usual 6 dollar an ounce Golden Monkey, it has virtually no flavor. For a $2-3 an ounce, it would be acceptable, but not at $10. Its taste is weak and slightly chalky.
