I like this tea, although it’s fairly mild. It has a little bit of the juicy floral flavor I like the best in oolongs of this type, without getting bitter or astringent. It has a lovely sweetness without being cloying. On the other hand, it’s not quite as flavorful as others of its ilk that I like very much. I get four steepings at 195 with out 3-4g in a medium gaiwan from it.

Lovely, rich and malty. A favorite staple. Although it can get a little astringent if not brewed long enough, and I’ve not been able to get more than three really satisfying steepings out of it. I’m steeping in a gaiwan with about 4.1 g.

By the way, the first picking, reserve version of this tea is incredible. I even more highly recommend that one — it’s even richer, more satisfying, and thicker.

I don’t love this tea. The flavor strikes me as thin and not particularly interesting. Perhaps I will try with a larger chunk of the cake, but for now I am not that impressed.

I like this tea as a good staple. However, it doesn’t stand out for complexity and I find it a bit cloying if I don’t brew it in my gaiwan. I’m not quite sure why that is, but I’ve not had success brewing with other methods.

Roasty and malty, to me at least. Reminds me a bit, in a good way, of the Verdant Laoshan Black. And cacao nibs. Did not stand up to more than four steepings.

Works just fine for large pots of tea, but doesn’t work particularly well for smaller steepings. In my view, this is a pretty major disadvantage. On the other hand, if large pots of tea are your primary application, you may well be very satisfied with this tea maker.
