I don’t really care for the pengiun, but the theory would be great for a tea bag/ball tea drinker.

Does anyone have suggestions for where to find chaiware online? The only chai sets I’ve found are from Tao of Tea. While I love their copper set, I’d love to look at all my options before deciding on one.

Oh, those are pretty…I kinda want one! I’ve never heard of “chaiware” before…isn’t it usually served in disposable cups? The Tao of Tea site even says you throw away the cup when you’re done. Off to google…

Cofftea said

True, but it sounds like a waste of wonderful talent and earthly resources- and I refuse to waste either. Let me know if you find any other ones (I’ve found the copper one a few places).

Just got off the phone with my mom. She said they sell chai in brown clay cups you throw away when you’re done because their cheap quality and eventually will disintegrate/leach into your drinks. Not very economical, I suppose, but the clay goes back to the earth unlike styrofoam, is biodegradable, and I assume that the making of the cups and the digging of the clay provides income for some people.

Do you have a link Cofftea? I was looking at this: http://www.taooftea.com/shop43-Chai_Cups.html I like the Black Waves one.

Shanti, this is the set I’m in love w/ :)

This is my favorite piece of teaware of all time:

I bring it to class every day and get many compliments on it. The double wall glass gently warms my hands without scalding them, and the strainer is really fine mesh so nothing gets through.

for anyone looking for a fine mesh strainer w/ a handle, I just bought http://www.lupiciausa.com/product_p/41401682.htm and it’s the finest of fine! I washed it out and even had to take a tooth pick to get my matcha out of all the little wholes cuz it got stuck. Putsy? Yes, but VERY functional and VERY inexpensive.

You probably stretched out the holes with your toothpick. I’d suggest a brush next time.

Cofftea said

I didn’t. I didn’t need to go in the holes, but the matcha got caught in the corners so I just very gently scraped along the edges.
