Ghost Chili
Could you imagine Frank over at 52Teas making a tea blend with the ghost chili? :)
Note: Frank don’t do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I saw that article and laughed cuz I suggested just that flavor for ManTeas. Or a chocolate ghost chili chai. I have to disagree w/ SoccerMom… DO IT FRANK!=P
That’s why they invented gloves and masks. I’ve seen restaurants that cook w/ it (on Man vs. Food) so I’m sure something could be figured out as to not harm our poor Frank.
That’s a really interesting article SoccerMom. I think it’s cool that they’re looking at the aerosoled peppers as a replacement for pepper-spray or tear gas. It would certainly be effective – the comparison of the Scoville units just about made my eyes pop. XD
All I can says is that I hope Frank has a fire-proof palate! ;)
I’m actually working on a jalapeno tea right now. I got freeze-dried jalepenos. (I always love it when I can find cool new stuff to play with).
Ghost chilies. Hmmm….
Any challenges in balancing the jalapeno action with the tea so as not to bulldoze the tea flavors? I would imagine a little goes a loooooong way. But I could be wrong. Interesting thought though to tinker with blends using pepper aromatics as a faint echo of heat but not so much as to burn one’s tongue.
Amy, they make a Mayan Chocolate Chai w/ cayenne which is much hotter as well as a bunch of other ingredients and the tea still comes thru so that shouldn’t be a problem for a more mild jalapeno. I think the challenge would be balancing the flavor so you get that and not just heat, but you also get the tea flavor.
Oooh! Mayan Chocolate Chai sounds divine! I wonder if it’s possible to make a Summer-y ice cream with the infusion brew from this tea? That would be something. :)
Thanks Cofftea. I’ve added it to my shopping list. Reminded me of the masala chai black tea I would make and added a handful of fresh mint leaves, some fresh sliced ginger, steeped for five minutes, then added a little cream and sugar. It was divine! The fresh mint and ginger took it to another world and reminded me to not hold so tightly to the bland one I’ve been living in. ;)
