Wow! This sounds lke a great idea. I will peruse the website. Is the deadline for decisions tonight? And who will be the spreadsheet master? AmazonV or Doulton?
Hi Lori,
I don’t think that the deadline for decisions should be until about March 29th or the 30th at the latest. I still want to reread their site and see about other teas in which I am interested. I am most certainly interested in maybe getting some 100 g teas and splitting them into 2 or 3 portions. Then if I fall utterly and impossibly in love, I can go back and buy more.
at the rate we’re going we may be getting some 200g bags!
AmazonV- Paul and Virginie sounds good.. And I would be willing to split an order w/u. Oolong chaitagne, Jardin de Tulieries (also an oolong tea), Pomme DAmour, Noel et Venise, Easter Tea, charlotte au chocolate, Tisane Du Berger
Doulton- that sounds like a great idea (especially the part about splitting the 100 g order to get samples). Those flavored teas all sound intriguing so it is hard to decide. Thank you so much for organizing this!
So I will PM you w/my final decisions near the end of March (around March 28th). However, if AmazonV is going to track the orders, I will PM her as well. Just let me know…
Although this is not exactly related to this topic, the online website for the Cultured Cup in Dallas sells Mariage Freres tea (in sample quantities for as little as $5)…. I am planning to place an order w/them in a couple of weeks…
right now I’m just putting the sheet together so everyone can see who is willing to share what – just since i think it will be easier to see in a spreadsheet than in threaded comments – final orders def. go to Doulton (thank you again for starting this very lively group order!)
if you’d like Doulton i can color code final orders if you want those visible
A few more notes: I don’t think that these teas are delivered in tins unless you pay extra. The tins seem to cost about 3 Euros each—i.e. 100 g. of Paul & Virginie is 6 Euros without the “caddie” as they are translated. So if you want a “caddie” (and they seem to be handsome tins) it must be specified.
AmazonV has done something amazing in the spread sheet and it might be easier if you indicate on the spread sheet what you want.
I plan to order for myself and would be willing to share with up to three other people 100 g. of the following. If more people want to share, a larger portion can be purchased.
Charlotte au Chocolat
Coquelicot Gourmand
Mélange des Chéubins
Jardin Bleu
Mélange Mystérieux
Nosy Bey
Paul & Virginie
7 Parfums
Thé des Cigales
Thé des Poetes
Thé des Sages
Nuit a Versailles
Jardin des Tuileries
Jardin du Trocadjro
Oolong Chataigne (Chestnut)
Genmaicha
Oolong Sapphire
If you want a tea not on the list I just made, you’ll need to order at least 100 g. or persuade somebody to go in with you.
Added in my choices, yay!
Woah, I just saw the spreadsheet. Procrastinating a bit, errr taking a break and going to go through the teas =]
I think it would be helpful to me if, once you decide your order, you PM me with the following: the names of what you want and the approx. number of grams: 25, 50, 75, 100, or more. Whether you want to spring for what they call a “caddie” (I don’t know how the teas are packaged without the “caddies” which appear to be handsome tins.
Please let me know your mailing address as well so I can get things coordinated.
That way I’ll be able to get back to you if you want 25 g. of a tea and nobody else is interested in sharing. You can then consider if you want to pay for the full 100g. or if you want to campaign for other sippers, or if you want to give it up.
If you are in the USA postage from me should be about 3.00 more or less.
I really appreciate the spreadsheet, but I would prefer knowing that people have names, addresses, and a sense of what they are committing to.
Thank you!
Thanks Doulton. I will send you my list w/weights in grams, and my mailing info…
I was a Sur La Table and noticed that they sell a few of the Dammann Brothers teas.
oo, hey NJ not too far, how big was their choices/selections?
I went to Sur LaTable yesterday and saw they had a couple of their teas. I tried the Loriental tea (no.2) Very good – although it was subtle it was at the same time flavorful..
Okay at my store in Houston, they had an Earl Grey, Breakfast Blend, Loriental, (which I know own yea!) and they had two other black teas. They also carry Mighty Leaf teas there. I am currently steeping Loriental and the dry leaf smells soft but great will let you know how it turns out via tasting note. BTW the breakfast blend and one of the other black teas were on sale for $8.50.
if you are in the US you can purchase some of Dammann’s tea offerings at http://www.illyusa.com/tea.
Thanks melissac! I have a real Illy addiction as well. I can get both things in one place!
