Puerh allergy
Has anyone had an allergic reaction to puerh? I’m allergic to penicillin, and broke out in a crazy rash (just like when I take penicillin) after breaking apart a cake of sheng. Not positive that that’s what caused it, but trying to see if anyone else has had a similar experience.
Hummm. I weirdly recall someone discussing a reaction to puerh on here in the past, but I can’t find the thread. Maybe I saw it on TeaChat back in the day.
In it though, they were specifically discussing allergies to the molds found in puerh. Since that’s one of the defining characteristics of puerh and heichas. I wonder if you’re reacting to a penicillin-producing mold in the puerh, or a mold producing a structurally similar compound in the same family.
It doesn’t look like that’s something that’s been extensively studied.
