Portable Water Filters
Hi everyone, I’ve been doing a bit of moving around lately—staying with friends in various places for a couple weeks or more—and have run into a small tea-prep problem: none of them have Brita pitchers.
So I’m trying to figure out a convenient way to deal with the fact that the tap water varies from state to state; ideally something that is reusable yet takes up as little room as possible in my luggage. Aside from buying a big jug of bottled water from the store, I’ve been looking into portable filters like the Brita Fill and Go: http://bit.ly/bXvFc2
Anyone have experience with these things?
The portable filter looks really useful. Not only does it save money, it is good in a lot of aspects such as reducing waste. I wonder how much time it takes for filtration though.
This one is biodegradable and corn based

The target store near me sells a brand similar to these and the refills. I think the starter set was around 8 bucks. If you’re looking for something that you don’t have to have shipped. Never tried it but love my brita pitcher. Not too helpful.
I had a filtered water bottle like the Brita one for awhile (don’t remember the exact brand), and I wouldn’t recommend it. It filtered the water, yes, but you had to squeeze fairly hard to force water through the filter into your mouth and that gets old fast. I also found a noticeable plastic taste which is apparently still a feature of the soft plastic bottles. The bobble you just posted about looks like it could be a lot better, but I thought I’d put my two cents in here
