The Tea House on Los Rios

This is a decent blackcurrant tea, but not my favourite. This version leans more into musty territory instead of sweet. Additionally, this is one you need to drink as soon as possible as astringency comes forward more and more as it cools (assuming this has to do with the Ceylon base). I prefer the blackcurrant from Tante T.

This is one of my favorite decaffeinated tea blends. It has an interesting flavor unlike any other brand I’ve tried before. I enjoy mine most when I add a bit of sugar and milk, and have it hot, but I also look forward to trying it iced. The tea is so smooth and the flavors are not overpowering to the tea. It taste sophisticated

I generally enjoy chocolate teas, and this was no exception. It’s got a soft but pleasant chocolate creaminess and is excellent with a bit of sugar and milk added to enhance the milk chocolate taste. I like to brew mine double strength so I can add milk and sugar and not dilute the tea. It smells nice dry from the tin as well. It’s nice to have a dessert option that’s much lower in sugar than ice cream or hot cocoa or most candy bars, plus, this has the added health benefits of rooibos

Flavors: Chocolate, Cocoa, Rooibos

I’ve been consistently impressed with each cup of this I’ve had. The chocolate flavour comes through and genuinely tastes like chocolate (not thin chocolate flavour). The rooibos base is very smooth and doesn’t taste medicinal or overtake the cup. The chocolate and rooibos are well balanced and complementary.

We spent two wonderful weeks in California and although I indulged in iced coffee excess, I also made it to two tea houses.

This one I had pre-planned in my research ahead of time. The dry scent of this is very watermelon, and not cloying at all. Similar to a diluted watermelon drink made of fresh watermelon. The tea has dried watermelon and papaya and the taste is very light, yet very ‘watermelon burst’. The base is green oolong, light and airy with little flavour of its own.

I think I’ve had this blend from other companies, it’s a good one!
