The Jasmine is too strong for my tastes, overwhelming the green tea flavor. However, I’m not a big jasmine fan anyway, so if you like jasmine, you would probably like this.

An ingredient killed this tea… and it was vanilla.
For me this tea was ‘eh’ but the vanilla made it insert sound that is worse than ‘eh’
I was hoping it would be like black tea dreamsicle, but that wasn’t the case.

This tea smells awful, sounds weird, and taste decent.

“Another tea mixture with coconut”, I thought to myself… I enjoyed the taste of this tea, though I am not sure what it was suppose to taste like. The smell is off putting but the flavor is decent once you get past it. Take out the coconut and it’d be better.

drank Darjeeling by Teanzo 1856

Rather low quality Darjeeling that I don’t have anything to call similar because most Darjeeling I have had are much smoother; I was able to finish my cup, but the ending wasn’t that enjoyable.

This tea looks and smells like a broken granola bar…

I actually liked the mixture of coconut in this tea which is rare because I dislike warm coconut flavoring. The mixture of chai in this overpowers the coconut and creates a dessert cup of tea that I enjoy.

drank Breakfast Tea by Teanzo 1856

For someone who doesn’t drink or enjoy black teas: This was a pleasant of tea. I never have drank breakfast teas before but this was quite smooth, though I still don’t like the taste of black teas, I am able to notice the quality is a little lower than what many would prefer but I enjoyed this overall.

The sticky stuff used to glue these suckers together in the advent calendar box was so strong that two of the three teas I had left to try were hopelessly stuck together. I carelessly tugged too hard to get them apart, and both this tea as well as Tranquil Spa blend ripped and made a mess on the floor. :(

This was my first ever tea advent calendar! This was so much fun to open up every morning and explore each coppery foil pouch.

I recommend this advent calendar for tea newbies especially. They had a lot of straight blends that everyone worth their weight in Long Jing should try at least once. The variety is isn’t as broad as I would have liked, but the new tea that they unveiled were usually on the mark. I really liked all of their new spa blends. I don’t know if I would buy any of their other teas though.

About the packaging: I would probably try a different way of packaging all the samples together. The little sticky glue squares were too strong and stuck to EVERYTHING. A couple of my samples got stuck together somehow, and I ended up tearing them apart and getting tea all over the place. (Sorry, Detox mint)

Thanks Teanzo, for letting me try all of your interesting teas!

LiberTEAS

I agree with you about the glue dots. I know why they used them but I think they should have maybe opted for some double stick tape that wouldn’t have gotten everywhere. It would have been easier to remove from the box (and it probably wouldn’t have been as difficult to tear the samples apart!)

But I loved the little coppery packages, they were fun and made it a little more ‘gifty’ in a way. I also thought the box was beautiful and it was a good box for a beginner. I would have liked more ‘teas’ and fewer herbals. But overall, I was very happy to have this box and it was fun tasting with you.

drank Cherry Tea by Teanzo 1856

The last day of Teanzo’s Advent Calendar! I don’t know why they chose this particular blend for the finale of their advent calendar. It did not make me feel particularly Christmas-y. I saw the back of this package and the disappointment set in. If there was any candy flavoring that I hated most as a child, it was cherry. I almost didn’t want to drink this at all. But I had gone this far, so…
I did. And it wasn’t bad.
That being said, I mean not bad as in, ‘it could have been worse.’ It was a subdued flavor of cherry. More like … cherry flavored yogurt. The black tea base was the saving grace, as it was bold and robust. It tried it’s best to hide the medicinal cherry flavor. It did a good job for the most part. Too bad. Maybe if they switched day 1 with day 24, it would have ended more festively.
Thanks Teanzo for the crazy ride!

Like Mint Detox, this tea became victim to the floor. :(
Curse those sticky glue squares!

Day 24 of the Advent Calendar from Teanzo…

It’s the last day of teas from Teanzo. Overall, I’ve had a lot of fun with the calendar. Like TheLastDodo I found that this calendar helped put me in the mood for the holiday and I really needed it because my “spirit” was lacking this year.

As far as the black teas in this box, this one was probably my least favorite. It was alright. There was a strong cherry flavor to it. In my full-length review – http://sororiteasisters.com/2014/12/24/24-days-of-tea-holiday-countdown-day-24-from-teanzo-1856/ – I mention that it’s a cross between maraschino cherry, bing cherry and a tart “pie” cherry … all those cherries having been macerated in brandy and then strained and liquefied and added to the tea.

The usual “cough syrup” flavor would be applicable here too because I got some of that flavor, which I really wish it didn’t have. I personally like the flavor of cherry cough syrup but I don’t really want a lot of cherry cough syrup flavor in my tea, and the first few sips were enjoyable but after that, the cough syrup flavor was a little more than I wanted.

Fortunately, though, as the tea cools, some of the cough syrup-y notes taper and I was able to enjoy more of the other flavors of the blend. It’s a much better iced tea than a hot tea.

Not my favorite black tea from Teanzo, but it was alright.

I really wish there was a festive tea for the last day. I feel like Teanzo played all their good cards at the very beginning. Thank you for drinking through the calendar alongside me!

LiberTEAS

It was fun to have someone else drinking these teas with me. Yeah, I agree about playin their good cards at the beginning, although I did enjoy the spa trio which was a surprising thing for me. I didn’t expect to enjoy those because I’m not usually all that excited about herbals. But those were pretty good. They have a christmas chai blend and I wish that was in this box and I wish we could have also tried their chocolate mint dessert tea and their tahitian breeze dessert. I just realized that they don’t have any white teas in their line … they should consider getting some!

drank Mint Detox Tulsi by Teanzo 1856

Day 23 of the Teanzo Advent Calendar…

This was a tasty blend. Some thoughts about this Advent Calendar: It was fun, I enjoyed trying new to me teas from a company that I haven’t tried a lot of teas from in the past (I don’t know that I’ve tried any teas from them! These may have been the first!) but I wish that they focused a little less on the herbals and a little more on the camellia sinensis blends. There were some really yummy looking teas in their collection that didn’t make the calendar and I would have preferred some of those over something like ‘hibiscus.’ But, I still found the journey enjoyable and worthwhile.

Now, about this tea: this was pretty tasty. A nice combination of flavors. I like the spearmint paired with the tulsi. The spearmint seemed to bring out a bit of the warmer notes of the tulsi and there was a pleasing contrast. The lemon myrtle gave the cup a light, bright note – uplifting.

drank Green Earl Grey by Teanzo 1856

Day 22 of the Teanzo Advent Calendar…

Yay! Earl Grey! I’ve tried a few green Earl Grey teas, and I’ve liked quite a few of them. Some more than others. Of the ones that I’ve tried, I think that this one is my favorite, or at least, the most memorable. I got a good, tangy yet sweet note of bergamot and a pleasantly sweet flavor of green tea. I think that this is a gunpowder – the pellets were a bit larger than some gunpowder green teas I’ve seen – and it offered a sweet, slightly vegetal and earthy note that was appealing and a really nice creamy note that melded with the bergamot in a favorable way.

Overall, this Green Earl Grey was a big win for me!

drank Tranquil Spa Blend by Teanzo 1856

This was Day 21 from the Teanzo Advent Calendar…

I found a “trio” of herbal teas that I actually quite enjoyed in this Teanzo Advent Calendar, the three teas that are in the Spa Trio, which includes this tea. Of the three, this one was my least favorite because of the addition of eucalyptus – I am just not crazy about eucalyptus. But, even with the eucalyptus, this was a pretty tasty blend.

The orange and ginger are the two strongest notes of this blend and because they seem to soften the flavor of the eucalyptus, I think that’s why I found this tea to be agreeable. The rooibos is soft and fruity, and I taste hints of mint. A pleasant cuppa.

Teanzo’s Advent Calendar Day 22:
Ahh, Christmas is so close! I loved doing this advent calendar. It put me in such a festive mood even when I wasn’t really feeling it. This is the first time for me trying a green earl grey. Now I just think that it is the style of bergamot that they used that made me care less about this tea. I love the concept, but strongly dislike their bergamot flavoring. I think, however, that the type of green tea used here, Gunpowder, is probably the best choice for this blend. I could taste the grassiness of the gunpowder. Come to think of it, this advent calendar did not have enough green teas in it for me. I really like all the green that I had. Now I think I need to pick up another brand of green earl grey to compare :)

I think this calendar would have been nicer with more green teas in it too. Fewer herbals and more green, and maybe even a white tea or two!

Teanzo’s Advent Calendar Day 20:
Yummy! This was a great tea blend for today! It actually smelled creamy straight out of the foil package. Brewing it up also yielded a naturally sweet and creamy brew. The orange and the black tea combined forces in my cup to create a smooth and tasty cup. This tea reminded me of why I initially loved the flavor combo of black tea and orange. It was like a twisted creamsicle in a way. I want to say that the base tea was some sort of Ceylon because of it’s light body, but I can’t really be for sure. Regardless, this tea was really enjoyable, and one of the handful in this advent calendar I may possibly purchase after the holidays!

Teanzo’s Advent Calendar Day 19:
After finally fixing my laptop, I can get back to my backlog of reviews! That, and do some actual work on it…. Anyways, Today’s tea was a basic Rooibos with vanilla flavoring. The flavoring tastes like one of the higher end kinds. There is no strange metallic nature to it, and I accentuates the Rooibos rather than hides it. I am not wowed by this tea, nor am I completely disgusted by it. Eh. On to day 20!

Day 20 of the Advent Calendar from Teanzo…

As I mention in my full-length review – http://sororiteasisters.com/2014/12/20/24-days-of-tea-holiday-countdown-day-20-from-teanzo-1856/ – once it was determined which tea company I was going to feature for my “calendar countdown” this year, I perused the Teanzo website to get familiar with some of their teas. And besides the Winter Earl Grey tea (day 1) this was the tea I was most hoping would appear in the box – so I was really glad that it was there!

A very aromatic tea. I enjoyed the fragrance of this tea immensely – both the dry leaf and the brewed tea.

This is a pretty tasty Orange Creme type tea. The black tea base isn’t overly aggressive, but it offers a solid flavor of black tea. The orange is flavorful and juicy and the vanilla is sweet and adds just a hint of creamy taste.

drank Vanilla Rooibos by Teanzo 1856
4843 tasting notes

Day 19 of the Teanzo Advent Calendar …

Tasty! I usually prefer a rooibos blend to be very strongly flavored, so much so that it masks the flavor of the rooibos which isn’t my favorite taste. I don’t mind rooibos as much as I once did, but, I still like a good, strongly flavored rooibos blend. This isn’t as strongly flavored as what I used to want, but I’m not minding that because the nutty flavors of the rooibos works really well with the vanilla notes.

The vanilla tastes authentic. It doesn’t have a fake taste or a cheap vanilla extract sort of flavor. I enjoyed this.

Here’s my full-length article: http://sororiteasisters.com/2014/12/19/24-days-of-tea-holiday-countdown-day-19-from-teanzo-1856/

Lion

I’ve tried a few vanilla rooibos lately trying to find the right one for me. So far the first one I had (Allegro brand) was the best. I currently am trying to evaluate Upton’s but I think it tastes a little “artificial” despite that it has natural vanilla extract and vanilla bean pieces to flavor it. Maybe it’s the quality of the rooibos making it taste kinda off.

Lion

On the other hand I’m really enamored with Upton’s Super Grade Rooibos.

drank Hibiscus by Teanzo 1856

Day 18 – Teanzo Advent Calendar:

yep … I did it. I drank hibiscus. The things I do for my blog.

But seriously, I drank this last week when I was feeling weak and under the weather, and the vitamin C of the hibiscus did help me. I find that when I consume something with high amounts of Vitamin C (or just a vitamin C tablet) … it gives me a burst of feeling good that lasts a couple of hours and I needed it.

Not a fan of the tart. I brewed it for 4 minutes and this minimized the thick, syrupy texture and made it drinkable. (Honey also helps make it drinkable.)

Here’s my full-length review: http://sororiteasisters.com/2014/12/18/24-days-of-tea-holiday-countdown-day-18-from-teanzo-1856/

Not going to rate it because I’m not a fan of hibiscus and I don’t think I’d be very fair with the numeric rating.
