Nothing says adventure like trying a random black tea from a vrbo share area in America where tea is not well taken care of. I fear for the flavor simply by looking at how crunched and smashed and broken the leaves are. Also they were sitting in a plastic bag. The aroma is next to nothing for the dry and wet aroma of the leaves. The flavor is heavy with cigarette and dark woods. Bland.

A sturdy black tea good for the morning. Not necessarily anything special, but bold enough to wake me up.

Is Signature Select the Kroger House brand? If so, I think I have had a couple of theirs that are fair to middlin.

Mastress Alita

That is a Kroger brand (my local Fred Meyers uses Kroger generic brands). “Simple Truth” is another of theirs (I really like the mint tea in that line).

I grabbed a tin of Signature Select jasmine green off the pay-it-forward table at work and haven’t tried it yet. I am now encouraged to do so.

I received this one in a swap, so I don’t know much about it. We don’t have this brand in any of the stores around here, but I was able to find more info about it here – https://www.albertsons.com/shop/product-details.119031154.html – if that helps.

2020 Advent Swap – Day 3

This has been my favorite no frills tea to wake up to for the last 19 years or so? Enjoy!

Day 3 of my advent tea swap with Devon Bartholomew and this is my favorite one yet! As gmathis said – “Isn’t it nice to know that there are some good, cheap grocery store staples that you can completely rely on?” That is how I feel about this bagged tea. It is dark and dependable, just the thing to start a sleepy morning. I can see why Devon has been waking up to it for the last 19 years! The bag doesn’t have a brand name listed on it, but using my handy Google Lens, I found it listed on Safeway’s website. (Devon, let me know if I’ve got the wrong tea!) We don’t have Safeway here – it’s a grocery store, yes? Is it like a Publix? I’m not sure I’ll ever see this brand locally, but I’m glad to have tried it today. It was a nice pick-me-up.

It comes from a grocery store called Acme! I have my mom send me home with some boxes of it when I visit for the holidays.

Shae

It looks like the same company owns both Safeway and Acme, so I bet this is it!

Devon Bartholomew

I can ship you a box in January if you want! It’s $4.29 for 100 tea bags.

Shae

Thanks so much for offering to do that! I do already have some others that are similar, but I did very much enjoy this one today.
