You’ve got exactly 75 cents. You want a coke.
You put the change in the vending machine and you quietly wipe the sweat from your brow and exhale a breath of relief. Your coke is coming, you can hear the little mechanisms going inside the machine and its eventual tumble down the chute. You gasp.

It’s a pepsi.

Maybe I was a tad overexcited upon brewing this, but I was slightly let down. It just didn’t shine as brightly as the other teas in the tea sampler set. Don’t get me wrong, it’s an excellent tea! (Please don’t hurt me for saying so). It tastes just like a jolly rancher.. just like the description says, and no I’m not talking about that sickly syrup sweet taste (although I do love a good hard candy), but a real, refreshing and freshly sliced watermelon. It brews a hello-kitty pink color and smells divine.

However, I do think that there are other teas from Sanctuary T that sort of leave this one in the dust.

Generally, I’m not a big fan of flowery teas. I, in fact, despise them the same way any classy lady will turn her nose up at overly strong body sprays and glittery mascara. It’s over the top, it’s embarrassing, and just leaves everyone feeling like you’re a cheap tart.

This, however, is the Audrey Hepburn of teas. It’s elegant and crisp. The tea leaves themselves have the faint aroma of jasmine that is only enhanced by the brewing process. The fragrance wafts gently through the air to meet your olfactory senses upon sipping. It first opens with peach and honeysuckle notes and then morphs into a fresh blend of lighter green tea notes.

The liqueur is a rich gold (on the website it said amber…?) and is utterly smooth on the midsection of the tongue. It leaves no drying sensation and is quite a filling experience in itself.

The leaves retain their flavor for about 3 brews, while the fragrance has a funny way of staying on your cup. Honest to say, even that didn’t bother me in the slightest.

Nice choice at night for that chocolate fix. It is not a strong chocolate presence ( if real chocolate is what you are craving, eat some M&M’s) but as far as tea & chocolate blends it is spot on! Nice caffeine free, zero calorie indulgence. The honeybush in this blend smells wonderful, one can almost catch a vanilla-ish wiff, I am guessing this the creaminess peaking out of my cup. I am not a big fan of honeybush or rooibos, but this tea has earned a place in my tea cupboard. My only complaints about SanctuaryT teas are 1. no brewing directions on the tin and 2. the tin is hard to get into…cute but difficult to open and not spill the precious tea inside.
I have two Santuary T teas in my cupboard (Geisha Beauty is my other) and both are keepers!

Chocolate hits me as I open the cute little tin, the tea looks soft and inviting as I measure out 1.5 tsp. This is a really nice way to end the day. Caffeine free goodness in my cup. Nice and delicate chocolate taste. Will gladly repurchase when this sample is done.

Hello Steepsterites.

Look at your tea, now back to mine, now back at your tea, now back to mine. Sadly, it isn’t mine, but if you stopped purchasing tea bags and switched to Sanctuary T’s Carnival blend, it could smell and taste like mine.

Sorry for that. I HAD to do it. I recently purchased a discounted sampler tea set from Sanctuary T via their July quizzes, and this was the first tea that I decided to brew. Now, let me tell you: The aroma is to DIE for. It’s buttery, caramel, and smooth with a hint of pepper. It’s a medium body black tea that is so perfectly blended, I completely forgot I was drinking anything since it goes down divinely smooth.

Imagine eating the most wonderful slightly salted popcorn without your fingers getting all greasy. Now imagine you can drink that happiness. That is this tea.

My only gripe is that the tea doesn’t do too well on consecutive brews. It smells and tastes great but it’s moderately weaker. Sadies. Wonderful tea nonetheless.

Nice one! and just think of how much tea Isaiah Mustafa could sell if he tried… I wish he would! No matter how clever the ads are, I’m never going to buy Old Spice for my husband, because I don’t want him to smell like my father and/or grandfather!

Sanctuary T

haha! the old spice ad is hilarious! we are so glad that you love our tea… sorry that it is on the weaker side, have you tried steeping it a bit longer?

I think this tea must have been destiny. I won the first Sanctuary T trivia contest and decided that I had mostly enough tea leaves on hand, so I bought tea ware primarily. (I brewed this with the help of my oh-so-cute wooden sandtimer!) But this was the one tea I made the exception for, and I’m so glad I did. The flavor is a little hard to describe — if I could be completely fanciful I’d describe it as “genmaicha’s big sister”. It has a similar warm and toasty feel with a slight sharpness similar to green tea. I’m not a big green tea fan, and it’s not too strong here. The flavor reminds me of genmaicha, but a bit richer and deeper, and not quite as rice-y. For me, this is perfect. I think in addition to the food suggestions above (fried + basil/garlic) that this one would also go well with some slightly spicy foods, and probably smoky as well. I think it’ll be a great drink when I try out my Smoky Black T-Dust.

Well I was watching Dexter and completely forgot I was brewing this tea. Luckily, this tea is impossible to overbrew. So after a 45 minute steep I am enjoying a delicious cup of caffeine free chocolate.

This was a request from my anti-chocolate husband, go figure. This tea just gets better the longer it is steeped, I may have to restock when I’m through with my sample.

*le gaspeth * How can someone be anti-chocolate? It goes against the natural order of things!

I know! He usually like only white chocolate things, but really loves this tea and has been asking for this almost every night…

This tea is just really good! It isn’t too sweet, but it does help to quell any sweet cravings in the evenings. My husband also really loves this tea, even though he doesn’t usually like chocolate. This also re-steeps fairly well for a caffeine-free option.

I think this may be the first time I’ve had honeybush, but I had high hopes for it – especially for a chocolate, caffeine-free tea!
This tea smells more like a liqueur to me than chocolate or cream, but I like the smell. The tea is extremely smooth and lightly sweet naturally. The chocolate does come through in the taste and overall this is just a very nice tea. I’m not sure if it would fall into the category of “Dessert Tea” for me, but it is definitely a great addition to my late night lineup.

Second infusion is almost better than the first. Less alcoholic smelling, more chocolate. Adding a bit of milk really helps the cream flavors to stand out a bit. Pretty impressive as I generally don’t have good luck re-steeping caffeine free teas.

I am not a huge fan of chocolate teas, but I had to try this one after a sniff! It smelled less like a chocolate bar, and more like cocoa – and the taste matched! I really enjoyed the fact that I could drink it before going to bed (yay 4 caffeine free Honeybush!). The only criticisms that I have are that the tin is difficult to get into, and I managed to spill about 3 cups worth of the tea when the lid finally did pop off, and there were no brewing instructions included with the tin – and with me being to lazy to go down to the computer I was forced to guess at the temps. But otherwise, a great tea!

it was 100 degrees in nyc! someone please give me frost bite! with no AC in my office i thought i was going to pass out. no worries though a quick pitcher of peppermint brought back my sanity as well as my coworkers’!

sure you can have any peppermint tea because it is such a “typical” tea. but honestly this tea is different. pure. clear. crisp. like a breeze of fresh winter in a good way.

drank Geisha Beauty by Sanctuary T

had a nice bowl of pasta for lunch and was hoping to wash it down with something sweet and refreshing! i bought this tin of tea a few months ago and have been looking for a good time to try it out. i love the blend of green and black teas with the subtle fruit flavor. whereas some artisinal blends loose the essential flavors of the tea itself, this one did not shame the leaves while also adding a touch of floral and fruit!

This is my new favorite tea! Normally I stick close to brands I know but I saw somebody tweet about how great Sanctuary T’s geisha beauty is and I had to try it. It is perfectly balanced with peaches, black tea and green tea all coming through in a sip.
But in hot weather months, nothing beats a glass of iced geisha beauty.

So, I am not normally an herbal infusion fanatic (fruit blends that have no tea leaves in them whatsoever) but since the weather is hot and I can’t eat icecream all the time, I have been trying out some fruity ways to make a refreshing tea drink.

I tried this out with a friend after shopping in Soho and I really loved it. Rather than adding a splash of lemonade I added sprite and some wine to make a sangria like watermelon tea…. the tea on its own is also delicious but this a great mix up!

I absolutely love this tea. Sanctuary’s a European-style tea cafe/restaurant in Soho, and the owner and tea sommelier have impeccable taste for both food and tea.

Me too! I absolutely love Sanctuary T and their leaves. Just thought I would mention my excitement
