Since we have discovered recently that sweet flavoured rooibos is not completely unacceptable to me, I finally felt brave enough to try this one. It’s one of those that I’m not sure where came from but which caused me to wonder what on earth the sender was thinking to give it to me. It’s just a small amount, though, and I’m making just one cup of it. We shall see if it’s pleasant.
It smells sweet and almond-y, so so far so good. That’s a very heavy smell, thick smell, that, so the actual rooibos is very well under control here.
Unfortunately it’s a bit more sweetened rooibos-y in the flavour, with the almond showing up as more of an aftertaste. It’s a very good aftertaste, but I would have preferred it to cover the rooibos up completely. Can’t have everything, though, and it helps that it tastes sweetened.
I wouldn’t say it was awesome. But it’s definitely on the better end of acceptable.
I realized today that I’d never tried this tea (ugh, that definitely means I own too many since I don’t even know which ones I’ve tried now!), and brought it to work. It was my full intention to brew it for 3-4 minutes, but after answering the phone and getting distracted by the Zoya nail polish site, it ended up brewing over 10 minutes. That resulted in an extremely bitter tea, but I still managed to drink a good deal of it. I guess that’s a testament to the fact that the tea will taste great when I brew it properly… I will reserve any judgement but I have high hopes! I wish I felt like making another cup of it today but I don’t, so I will save it for another time.
Preparation
Another winner from Remedy Tea. The pineapple chunks are sweetened, but they just add a subtle sweetness. The flower blossoms add a nice flavour and everything blends together nicely. The coconut and pineapple can be detected, but if I tasted this blindfolded, I don’t think I’d guess this blend was “pina colada”. Very unusual!
Even though I need something stronger (caffeine-wise) today, this is so perfect. I really love this blend, and it’s by far the best green tea I’ve tried. I’m still trying to figure out exactly where the slight sweetness is coming from (if there’s a little bit of added sugar, it sure is subtle, so I still think it’s the pineapple bits) but it really is just such a nice tea. I wish it was warmer in my office so I didn’t have to keep reheating it!
Preparation
I’m pretty picky when it comes to green teas. A lot of them are too strong or have a distinct rice-y flavour. I took a chance ordering this but I absolutely love it! The walnut flavour is very strong but goes so well with the light green tea. There are also almond pieces and pineapple (I think), which sweetens it up. A very lovely blend—this is a new favourite!
It’s funny that I don’t drink more of the teas I really enjoy… I think I’m usually more of the mindset of “oh, I have to use this mediocre tea up” so I focus more on those than the best ones in my cupboard. Go figure—my mind works in mysterious ways. Anyway, I brought this one into work today and am thoroughly enjoying it! I almost taste a “rum” note because the way the coconut blends with the black tea creates it almost as an aftertaste. There are plenty of thin but long coconut flakes in this blend, so the coconut taste is definitely prominent (and it smells incredible). I’m a fan of just about anything coconut, but this is also just really great tea in my opinion. :)
Preparation
Hmm, very unimpressed with this today. Brewed for what I thought was too long (although looking at my past notes, I see that I brewed it for 5 min. previously and it turned out okay), and did not enjoy the taste. The ginger was amped like crazy and the pear note almost tasted bitter. It was kind of a mess, to be honest. I only made it through 1/2 of the cup and gave up. I have to echo my previous review and say this is my least favourite Remedy Tea Bar blend out of everything I ordered. I’ll try it again before I adjust the rating, but it seems too high after this round!
Preparation
Drank this today and finally brewed it long enough. Definitely a very strong pear flavour, with the ginger staying well in the background, but still noticable. I don’t think I have tried any other pear-flavoured teas so this blend is really nice for its uniqueness alone, but overall I think it’s my least favourite of the 5 I ordered from Remedy Tea Bar. It might be the ginger that keeps me from completely loving it. Still a very good cuppa, though!
Preparation
First tea I’ve tried from this company (Remedy Tea in Philadelphia, not to be confused with Remedy Teas in Seattle), and I’m impressed. Really nice flavour—the spices are subtle but it all blends really well—and it smells absolutely amazing. I almost get a walnut-y aftertaste. I might brew a little longer next time.
