I came along this tea in a Kenyan Supermarket and was looking for a specific brand with great diffusion and taste. Since I couldn’t find my brand, i decided to give this a trial.
This Tea is #Magical!. It tastes great and brews really fast. The smell is unlike other!. I highly recommend Safari Pure Tea for the Tea lovers out there.

If you ever feel like you are losing faith in people, talk to some tea people.

My youngest daughter is in a concurrent enrollment program at our local community college. We have homeschooled our kids for twenty-five years now! She will complete her senior year of high school with her freshman year of college.

She got an email from a fellow student, a man from Kenya who had been out sick, asking for information about assignments and class discussion. She replied with the information he needed and he sent her the sweetest thank you message. Then at class today, he gave her a box of this tea and an umbrella, because he saw her walking in the rain without one.

Naturally we made some as soon as we got home! Teabags scare me, because….Lipton. Lipton eats my stomach up and makes me miserable.

Surprise! I steeped this for two minutes as a caution and it was too weak. I steeped it for four like the package recommended and got a good, lightly malt cup of tea with no bitterness and no gripping stomach pains after! I am drinking it straight with no problem whatsoever, no urge to add milk or sugar to make it go down.

It has the high citrus note of some Ceylons and a very light malty flavor. It is very tasty with my lunch of frozen pizza, which I have doctored up with garlic salt and curry powder. Nice! The best part of all is the kindness that came with the tea!

What a nice gentleman!

You and your daughter should do some tea swapping with him!

Nicole

Very nice!

We do plan to send him some tea! On Monday she gave her professor some Hot Cinnamon Spice in the black and green varieties and we have also sent her a list of teas she might like to try. She is already a tea lover but doesn’t seem to know of a lot of different teas. My daughter also takes her baking to her instructors.

What a wonderful story!

And I’m stealing your idea in regards to sprinkling curry powder on pizza.

ashmanra

Oh, do try it! I like to sprinkle it all over the pizza, and sometimes with a thicker crust we put a little melted butter on the crust and add curry powder there!

Christina / BooksandTea

That sounds scrumptious. Does it compete with the pizza flavours, or just add depth?

ashmanra

I think it just adds! I don’t put tons. I use Penzey’s Sweet Curry or Penzey’s Now Curry, but they have a few other curry powders that are great. I also used to make a pizza seasoning that had brown sugar, garlic powder, black pepper, and a few other seasonings. I just read the list of ingredients in Papa John’s pizza topping that comes with their thin crust pizzas and put together my own thing, which came out quite different but we loved it. Sometimes I just add brown sugar, just tiny sprinkles of it.

There are still good people in the world. I think the lessons from a teacher a long time ago are still followed.

:) So thankful for the good and gracious people that surprise us with small kindnesses!

I don’t know who said this isn’t bitter, but it’s STRONG!

As a cheap tea, this is one of the best. I was initially wary, but the cheap price tag and the amount made me get it.

Flavor wise, it is FANTASTIC! When I go mineral collecting early in the morning, I brew a cup of this with a Ceylon tea and it is just FANTASTIC! Strong, smooth, will give you a boost and has a distinctly malty smell to it.

All in all, highly recommended for a morning tea when the early mornings await you and you have the morning “uuurrrrgggg uuuuhhhhh gguuurrrrrr” language.

This was what they told me I had on the plane from Amsterdam to Kenya. May or may not have been. It was on Kenya Air so I’d say it was likely. I did not see the bag though – it was served already brewed.

It was good. A strong, basic supermarket level of black tea. I had a shot of Amarula after dinner, though and I had a bit left when they brought the tea. Adding the splash of Amarula to this tea made it very, very good. It smoothed it out and made it creamy while bringing a hint of fruit flavor to the cup. I’m definitely going to experiment with Amarula in some basic black teas.

And here are some pictures from the trip.

Not the best. These were all from my phone so I’d have some to use quickly for blog posts. The real pictures from the semi-pro will take awhile to clean up for viewing. He’s a perfectionist like that. :)

My brother received a box of this tea as a gift a few months ago. We finally got around to brewing a pitcher of it for sweet tea last night. It’s very mild but not weak. It tastes and smells like generic, everyday black tea, but without any harshness. There’s no bitter aftertaste. It’s completely smooth and malty. My brother described it as sort of creamy.

Others have said that it can stand long steep times without getting bitter, so I will definitely try that.

This is my favorite black tea. My husband and I visited Kenya in 2004 and this was the tea we drank while there. We brought some home as a gift, but soon found that teas we drank previously paled in comparison. It smells earthy, brews beautifully and tastes lovlier the stronger you brew it. It is never harsh or bitter, and in truth Ketepa Pride has ruined me for most other black teas. I seek it high and low, panic when my stash is running low and often carry it with me when traveling.

I was surprised at how good this tea was. It is a bagged and what appears to be a dust grade tea. I didn’t expect it to be good. I just made it for some caffine. However, this tea was really good. It was not bitter like other dust grade black teas. It was slightly malty, and just plain good. I didn’t add anything to it. I would recommend this tea above Lipton and PG Tips bagged black tea.
