A malty sweet roasted oolong with a lingering finish that lasts for many steeps in a gaiwan. As the leaves open up the flavor profile changes, a good tea for the early fall evenings as it begins to cool.

I’ve been shopping at Aroma for a couple of years now, and is consistently one of my favorite places to go to.

I have a bias for oolong teas, but this stands out even above the average. It has a unique taste, which I can only interpret as ginseng. The only qualm I have about this is that the flavor tends to last mostly only through the first infusion.

Nice oolong tea, but nothing to brag about. Slight hints of caramel. More of fruity notes.
Can be steeped 2-3 times.

Like the name says there are some pretty decent sized leaves that made it possible to get a ton of steeps out of it. I don’t drink a ton of loose pu’erh(usually cakes) but this one is really amazing and is one of my favorites at the moment. But I only really make it when I have time to sit down and steep it all the way out, anything else would seem a waste to me.

Brews up quite dark with a very pleasant up front sweetness along with notes of earth and a bit of smokiness. I’d say its a good tea to brew in larger amounts, its smooth and easy to drink would be good for someone newer to pu’erh.

A very pleasant green tea very aromatic, brews up quite light. Tastes surprisingly strong for its color super smooth and grassy, with a lingering sweet after taste. Experienced a tad of bitterness/astringency after the first brew but nothing too extreme. Overall just a really good green tea would probably be good for an everyday sort of tea.

I’ve been drinking a lot of puerhs and darker teas recently as well as soup and warming things, but energetically, I feel kind of blah (and the weather is totally blah) so I thought it might be nice to lighten up a bit and see how I feel…

This is a tea I got the last time I was at Aroma Tea Shop. It’s fun to get teas in the mail, but on the other hand, a bummer when you get a bunch of teas you don’t care for. It’s nice to be able to sample teas like you can at Aroma.

This is a lovely green tea I tried in the shop. It smells very vegetal and buttery. The tea liquor itself is vegetal, with sweeter notes of peas and corn. It’s slightly on the delicate side for Chinese green teas with only the tiniest hint of pungency if you steep it for more than 2 minutes.

I only got 1 oz. of this but I will need to be getting more at some point. Rarely do green teas really blow my mind (usually Japanese ones) but this is a beauty and gives a peaceful, happy feeling. This needs a permanent place in my cupboard. very nice for chasing the blahs away…

I got this tea after being at the Aroma Tea Shop on Friday with my Living Social deal… I tried some in the store. It is really delicious!

This is the black tea that lapsang is made with, before it’s been smoked. So, this tea isn’t really smoky in any way… but it is beautiful. I love the fine, black wiry leaves. The flavor of this tea is wonderful and unlike any I currently have. It’s silky and almost creamy, with strong notes of chocolate and some malt. It isn’t strong and overpowering though, the overall effect is very relaxing and on the light side. This is a very easy one to drink plain since it’s devoid of astringency or any bitter notes. I could easily see it becoming one of my favorites.

This stuff is like a dessert tea without even trying to be. Sweet and natural — yum yum!

Was really surprised when I tried this, you pretty much described it exactly how I would of. Ended up buying 2 oz of it and enjoy it every once in a while.

TeaBrat

it is delicious…

Just sipping on this tea while I tried to break inertia and get a new blog post down today:

http://teabre.ws/1sumsA1

I got this puerh from Aroma Tea maybe 2 years ago? It isn’t on their website but they have a 2010 version that looks kind of similar. I was sold a piece of the cake that has long, pressed white tea leaves. It will be interesting to see how this ages. Right now it reminds me of a yao bo, with some hay like qualities and a nice sweetness that is reminiscent of peaches. When steeped for longer periods it also has a nutty quality which is very nice. So far, 3 steeps and counting. Now I really need to go do something productive today.

I bought this quite some time ago and I’m getting a little worried about the shelf life of my teas with coconut. I have one that is questionable at the moment, so I’m rushing to get through them before they go bad!

I cold steeped this in the fridge overnight and it turned out pretty good. I can taste a hint of the green tea in the beginning of the sip, but coconut dominates all other aspects. The coconut has a nice buttery aftertaste that I enjoy. It’s a nice cup, but not something I will restock.

Good morning Steepster!
This is a sipdown for me and I am just getting around to reviewing it now. I like the elegant snail shape of this tea and this is a lovely and tasty yunnan. It has a very smooth finish and a honey-like flavor. It’s good with soymilk and it’s also good without. This morning I am drinking it Western style and it’s very tasty! I was near Aroma Tea Shop yesterday and really had to resist going in there. I just don’t have a lot of money for tea right now and meanwhile, I have lots of tea in my stash. The one thing I am really missing is a nice Golden Monkey.

I’m not looking forward to the rest of my day, since I was just prescribed an antibiotic that has a reputation for causing massive stomach upset. I guess I will try taking it at lunch time along with some Pepto Bismol. Something tells me I will be drinking a lot of chamomile and/or ginger tea later. :)

This is a wonderful oolong! The honey notes are very strong, and there’s a fruity undertone and aftertaste—while I wasn’t able to identify it myself, I see the official description mentions lychee. That seems about right. There’s a little bit of astringency, which is a plus as far as I’m concerned. It’s not super roasty, but it doesn’t have that leafy green oolong flavor I dislike either. This is something I’d definitely be interested in picking up more of at some point. Thanks for sharing, CharlotteZero!

Although I usually love dark oolongs, I find that some have a certain flavor—I’ve never been able to pinpoint just what it is, frustratingly—that I don’t really care for. This, unfortunately, is one of them. I can tell it’s a quality oolong, and it’s delightfully roasty and sweet, but it’s just not the one for me. I’m glad to have had the chance to try it, though. Thanks for the sample, CharlotteZero!

…and this is a sipdown. Well the rest of it is going in a box to terri. BUT it’s a small amount haha. It wasn’t as delicious or chocolatey this time around but i also wasn’t paying as much attention to it as i should have been. Work got out of hand today so i was distracted. Thanks you so much charlottezero for sending this my way. i am a fan!

i feel like an addict…i had to have this again…and i just had it yesterday..but it’s SO TASTY! seriously…it’s like delicious chocolatey goodness…i just want cavo and variatea to come visit and have some… (and others, but in reality those two are the closest…oh and yyz…and nxtdoor…and… so anyway..you get the picture.. WANT TO SHARE!..but share in that let’s drink this together so i can oogle your oogling sort of way. ) that’s a thing. true story.

CharlotteZero sent this one my way. ….and let me tell you about how this was my favourite cup of tea today. Seriously. This had ZERO smoke in it, which was a little disappointing in my books, but then the caramel, chocolatey DECLICIOUSNESS hit me and i was log zomg, must drink…and then the cup was all done and i was boiling water to make a second cup. Seriously….this could probably rival my love for LB. Also…it’s slightly more expensive but it makes me sad i never got to this shop when i was in San Fran. I think even courtney would like this one… no smoke! I have a sneaking suspicion that there will be an aroma tea order in my future.. ..maybe this one can join the BBB Box as my tea next round if i get some. :)

Final Count: 150 which is the suck as i wanted at least 5 more sipdowns this weekend but that just means more tea drinking should be had this week! :) Still aiming for 130 by the end of next weekend, though i think that’s highly unlikely at this point so maaaybe 140 would be more doable lol.

Terri HarpLady

not smoky? is it more like the Zheng Shan xiao zhong from YS that we loved so much? (also not smokey)

Sil

it’s more like the YS one…though this one seemed stupidly chocolatey…like that first time i ever had LB. I’ll add some to your box or the BB from the samples that CZ sent me as i’ve got enough…but i suspect i’ll be purchasing some of this at some point. i really loved it.

yyz

I love these versions of LS. I still want to find the one I had that tasted like a chocolate, caramel oolong.

TeaBrat

I just bought some today, it’s the non smoked tea they make LS from

Sil

still saved to my wishlist heh

TeaBrat

I tried it in the store, it’s really good!

Sil

oh i know..my only issue is that you have to buy 4oz online…

boychik

i went and checked it too. 4oz is a lot

TeaBrat

Oh, I can buy it by the ounce so I only got a bit with this Groupon I had.
