5 Tasting Notes
I buy this when I’m at a grocery store that doesn’t really have any other good decaf options. Like a lot of decaf black tea, it’s too weak and I have to use 2 bags per cup. When I do that, this makes a fine chai tea with milk and sugar. By itself it’s kinda bland, but I really like it with the milk.
I love rooibos and I really love this African Nectar. I think it’s the hibiscus, since that’s one of my favorite flavors. I can drink this daily at home, and I once saw this guy at a coffee shop really pissed because they had run out of this flavor. I guess he is an addict too.
Preparation
I like to buy the Mighty Leaf variety pack, and when I first grabbed it I thought this would just be one of the ‘filler’ teas and nothing special. I ended up always wanting this one in the mornings, and had to buy some full boxes of Orange Dulce. I still think African Nectar is their best flavor, but this a good one when I want the caffeine. I normally drink it straight, but with milk and sugar it’s fine as well.
I drink tea twice a day, and then got pregnant and worried about some of the unusual herbs in what I normally drink and wanted to go totally caffeine free. That’s how I discovered Rooibos Red Spice. It’s a versatile tea that I enjoy both for breakfast and at bedtime. I love that the spices are mild and there’s no licorice, which ruins most spice teas for me. It’s a nice deep color that makes me not miss my English Breakfast tea.
