8 Tasting Notes
aroma- very damp and forest like. distinctly “forest like” in aroma, light notes of beef jerky or smoked meat.
taste- first infusions- woodsy, dark brown/red liqeur. tastes of smokey wood, with a slight sweet element inside the taste. light mouth feel “clean tasting”
second infusion- dark dark brown almost black liquid. taste is still smokey but more of a leathery taste comes through.. reminding me almost of a scotch like taste.
as i drink this tea i am envisioning myself within an old leacture hall or colonial pub. very rustic and Wise tasting.
third infusion- before taking a sip already noticing a more lingering mouth feel of this tea after the second infusion aroma is smoothing out, still catching some brief spicy meat like notes, but over all smoothing out into a more balanced roastyness.
taste smooths out and mellows into a more lingering and slow taste that develops over several seconds.
over all this is a great pu erh for the ripe variety…
it wouldn’t stand up against a good raw pu erh in my opinion.
but still a good tea in its own right!
Preparation
first steeping,
aroma shows grassy or “HAY” like notes typical of a raw pu erh but also has a VERY pronounced sweet note at the end of the aroma as well.
taste of first steeping was full bodied, slightly bitter. liquid is a full golden color.
really awesome lingering mouth feel, it actually develops seconds after you swallow.
second steeping,
aroma is the same for the most part
liquid is darker. taste is more pronounced, more balanced with the bitterness so its not over powering..
i got this tea for 8.00 for a 1/4 pound, A BARGAIN!
so for what i paid i am definitely happy with it, although i have had pu erhs that are way better.
Preparation
i tried steeping this tea with a cold 5 minute infusion first… interesting because after the first cold infusion you mainly get the grassy notes off the top of the tea, and because the leaves are slightly chilled it becomes harder to over steep it allowing more flavors to come through without bitterness in the later infusions..
over all very “dewy” almost get notes of melons or cantaloupe.
this is my go to morning tea.. it is amazing!
first cold infusion- 5 minutes
2nd hot 175 degrees- 25 seconds
3rd 35-45 seconds
Preparation
dry leaf aroma is pleasant, alot like a dan cong oolong. first infusion aroma is strong roasted on the front end and slight hints of choclate and also floral on the backend..
first few infusions have a honey like aroma , slight buttery texture, smooth slightly sweet taste with a note of mineral " rock" like taste. refreshing clean feeling mouthfeel.
this tea experience reminds me of a high mountain stream.. water rushed over moss covered rocks with a hint of sweetness if that makes any sense : ).
later infusions-
mineral rocky taste mellows out and it becomes more of a clean watery, slightly floral taste..
all in all a unique and refreshing tea!

dark bronze liqeur.. this tea is sweet and at the same time spicy. this dynamic is a constant back and forth while both sipping and smelling this tea. cinnamon comes through strong but not over powering. and the rooiboos adds a mellowness to the blend that gives it a nice balance.

this dragon well has light green with a hint of gold liquer. its taste is not astringent as long as you steep it at the correct temperature and not for too long. on the nose it smells both clean and slightly grassy. the taste has notes of “green things” grass, plants, a sweet hint of flower.
great morning tea to start the day.
