Fruit Paradise Cafe is a Japanese pastry cafe chain brought in by the Ajisen Ramen group. Its signature cream fruit tarts was & apparently still is, all the rage in Japan. Their very affordable – albeit tiny – pots of tea (S$5/S$6) are what draw me here. My favs:
- Pink Rose Bud
- Yuzu Pear Blossom
I’ve tried the other blends there & found them all nice. These blends are supplied by Gryphon and not retailed at shops.
Emperor Love is a well-known tea-house chain from Taiwan. Its first Singapore outlet has chic & modern decor. They serve traditional chinese teas and some interesting fusion-blends e.g. Mint Oolong, as well as a small selection of pastries.
I enjoyed these:
- Rose Pu-erh
- Longan scones
Next time, will be trying Dongding or Li Shan Oolong, which are among the premium Taiwanese blends.
This eatery is tucked within a fusion-style furniture store and overlooks an interesting back view of Orchard Road. My friends & I ordered:
- Fiesta Chicken Wrap
- Rose Tea
- Hot Chocolate
Although I’ve heard negative comments about the food & service, our experience was ok. Pastel macaron-coloured chairs are the distinctive decor feature of this place.
This is an oriental-style tea house serving Chinese teas and a variety of tim-sum snacks. It’s best to go as a small group. My friends & I had the Osmanthus Tea, Rose Tea and Tea Eggs. The tea comes served in authentic purple clay tea pots and staff will help to clean and pour out the 1st cup, for customers unfamiliar with traditional tea ceremony.
Despite the flake which this place received over certain things, it still ranks as one of my fav hangouts. I usually order their:
- Baileys Irish Cream Cake
- Pomegranate Ruby tea
- Peony Garden tea
Then I lug home a tin or two of the White Almond Truffle cookie. Their cookies were not voted Singapore’s Best for nothing!
I enjoyed lunch at the Ion branch with my friends. Impeccable service, food & tea were good (will update with details later). Only quibble is the tables were too small! We had to execute delicate manoeuvres, shuffling between our dinner plates & tea-pots, lol!
Antoinette is a Parisian-style tea salon chain in Singapore, helmed by the award-winning Chef Pang. Its decor and menu are reminiscent of Laduree (will update with details later). As they say, imitation is the best form of flattery!
