11 Tasting Notes
Wow, this has to be one of the most awful teas I’ve ever tasted. I dumped the pot down the drain after one sip and threw away the rest of the tea.
You know how closely linked taste and smell are…and how something can taste like a odor? Well, this tea reminded me of the smell of the of the room in the barn where milk, fresh from the cow, was poured into the milk/cream separator. I’m talking 50-60 years ago, but that tea brought me right back. There was this pungent odor of barn smells and old straw that had milk spilled on it and had by then gone somewhat rancid. I don’t quite know how to describe it…but that’s what the taste of this tea reminded me of…strongly. It was awful.
One of my new, favorite teas. I’m generally middle-of-the-road about spice teas, but this one hints at vanilla (even though I don’t see that ingredient suggested) that is like a middle note that ties together and slightly tones down the high notes of spice and citris with the low notes of black tea.
Flavors: Citrus Fruits, Spices, Vanilla
I clearly don’t have the delicate palate that the below reviewers have. I don’t taste the notes others do…never have, never will. My palate is pedestrian. But what I do have to say about this tea is this: It’s a lovely black tea. It doesn’t have any bitter notes. It has a certain clarity to its flavor while still being full-bodied and complex. It continues to taste good, even when it cools.
Preparation
This was a lovely tea. The one flavor that came through for me was roasted grain. It produced a lovely, golden color. The appearance was different…lots of little sticks. That was a surprise, but out of that came such a lovely flavor. It reminded me a bit of roasted grain coffee substitutes, such as Roma. It even tasted good cold.
I waited too long and now it’s not available, but I’ll definitely put my name on the waiting list for more.
Preparation
This was a wonderfully light, sweet tea. Almost tasted like I had added a touch of honey to it. It’s now one of my favorites. And it is fun to see a tea that visually looks a little different. Instead of shredded leaves, this is small, silver bud tips. I ordered a pound of it and will share with friends. I’m trying to get a dedicated group of tea drinkers started in my area so we can meet and try teas and talk about teas…a tea club.
Preparation
This came as one of five teas in my first tasting package and was, by far, my favorite of all the teas. Afraid I can write as eloquently as others here…just want to say…AWESOME tea.
I return 3 months later to update. I ordered this tea. Came from Taiwan…and the post office made me come down to sign for it. I guess in this day and age of Big Brother, any foreign deliveries are eyed with suspicion and extra review.
