1 Tasting Note
I just got this tea today and I couldn’t wait to get home so I could make it in my also brand new travel mug -the new raspberry pink carry travel mug (as mine self destructed and tried to kill my hand when I went to get it out of my bag).
I am a huge fan of oolong teas, I adore the earthy smooth flavours and so was very intrigued by the coconut, it seems these days that there is EVERYTHING coconut. My immediate reaction was to steer clear because quite frankly I have had enough of everything coconut but after smelling it and seeing how texturally beautiful the tea was I had to have it.
It is full of coconut, toasted coconut, white chocolate chips and those delicate rolled oolong tea leaves darkly contrasting the stark white of the coconut.
Now after burning myself in my haste to taste it, I find it to be a very mild flavoured tea but maintains the smooth oolong qualities you expect (now that could also be my tastebuds refusing to taste anything but HOT at the moment). I found the coconut flavour to kind of sneak up at the end as it was very much the earthy body of an oolong.
The toasted coconut gives this tea a lovely flavour which complements the nature of the oolong. Though I must say I am a bit disappointed that I am not finding the white chocolate notes as there were white chocolate chips in the tea itself however the natural cane sugar that is in there keeps it sweet without being overpowering. I would not suggest you add any sugar to this, but I am a purist and very seldom do I add anything to my teas.
Over all it is a nice light tea which gives a little bit extra with the coconut though more subtle than I thought it would be. A safe tea to have in any collection.
