I got this tea in a small 5g sample package with my order from Chado Tea House.

First Impressions:
Looks like a standard high quality sencha but with slightly thinner leaves. The smell is very fresh and grassy as expected from a good sencha. Smells absolutely delicious and buttery while steeping! The colour of the tea in a glass teacup is a very pronounced greenish-yellow.

Taste:
This is a great sencha. It has a nice bold flavour for a green tea and is great for everyday drinking. It is grassy, yet buttery smooth. It brings warmth to the soul. If you love sencha, I would highly recommend you try this one out if you can get your hands on it.

I just got my massive tea order in from Chado Tea House and decided to try this one first. I got this tea as something different and interesting to drink.

First Impressions:
The packaging is very nice and traditional. The dry leaves smell extremely fresh and grassy (Mmmmm.) with subtle citrus notes. While steeping, the citrus is more pronounced but still smells relatively similar. I’m drinking this tea in a glass teacup and the colour is a very light yellow, very clear.

Taste:
The first sip was very light and refreshing. The citrus is subtle but still very prevalent. I’m not a huge fan of citrus but this is pretty good. It tastes kind of like a mix of grapefruit/orange and a pinch of lemon (I’ve never actually had a yuzu before so I have no idea how it actually tastes). Overall, very light tea – great for refreshing summer days and afternoons. This would probably make a tasty iced tea.

Flavors: Citrus, Grapefruit, Grass, Lemon Zest, Orange

Smells like real banana and I love it! I got this as a sample from David’s Tea and mixed it with some sencha (As I do with all the herbal teas I get).

It is quite potent, even when mixed with sencha. You can really taste the banana. It tastes like a natural banana, not artifical. I’m a fan!

The dry leaves smell strongly of mango and a classic sencha smell.

The brew smells fairly weak, even after accidently over-steeping it for 30 seconds. The liquor is a nice yellow-ish green.

The taste of this tea is quite smooth and mild. The mango is very subtle, but it adds a very nice almost “creamy” smoothness to the brew. This would be a great tea on a nice warm spring day while sitting on the patio. I like this one! Not a favourite, but it is quite enjoyable.

Just got this one as a sample from David’s Tea!

The smell of the leaves is just like mango, but I don’t smell much pomegranate in there. Smells fantastic.

The brew is a medium yellow colour, not very dark – and smells just as the dry leaves do!

The tea tastes a little bit weaker than it smells, but overall it’s pretty good. I don’t usually drink mango/tropical flavoured teas, but this one isn’t too shabby!

Just got this in an order from David’s Tea!

The smell of the leaves is amazing if you really like chocolate and bananas. Smells phenomenal! The brew smells a bit weaker, but still has that awesome chocolate banana scent.

The colour of the brew is a nice medium yellow, not too dark for a black tea surprisingly.

The taste of the tea is pretty good. Not the greatest flavoured black tea i’ve had (I don’t drink that many flavoured teas, but I like them once in a while). When you take a sip, you can taste mostly chocolate, and it finishes with a banana after-taste. I like it, but I set my standards very high for anything banana related.

Overall, pretty good tea!

drank Extra Vintage Oolong by Shih Chen

I bought this tea at a local Chinese market for a very good price and was curious as to how it would taste.

The leaves are dark in colour, similar in resemblance to a young Pu-erh. It smells floral, with hints of nuts. When steeping the leaves unfurl nicely and are quite nice to watch.

The brew is dark brown in colour but still has some transparency. The tea when finished steeping has a creamy milky smell, unlike the smell of the original leaves. The smell got me really hyped up for this tea!

When hot, this tea has floral/nutty aspects, and is extremely pleasing. There is no astringency. It is a very bold tea that will definitely wake you up in the morning based on the flavour alone.

As the tea cools, it becomes similar to that of a milk oolong (But not as milky!). It tastes amazing when it is warm! It is bold, creamy and nutty; All of which an great oolong is to me.

Overall, very surprised by this Oolong. It is is very interesting and is now one of my favourites!

A very bold black tea. It smells phenomenal when brewing and really has the kick you would expect from an African tea.

The liquor is a dark red. It is much darker than most black teas I have tried in fact.

The taste is extremely bold. There is quite a bit of bitterness, almost like a black coffee in a sense . It doesn’t not taste malty or astringent, just bold.

If you’re looking for a coffee replacement, this is the tea.

I absolutely loved the smell of this tea when I bought it. The smell was of light honey followed by a classic darjeeling black tea scent.

The smell while steeping turned me off a little, but after taking a few sips I thoroughly enjoyed it.

The flavour consists of a light honey taste, thick maltiness and a bold astringent finish.

Overall, a good black tea but not my favourite.
