3 Tasting Notes
This is one of my favorite earl greys, and I’ve been drinking it regularly for over a year now. I’ve been searching for the perfect earl grey, and for a long time I couldn’t find anything that compared with this. For me there are two kinds of earl greys: light and bright ones that you drink without milk or cream and bold, strong ones that hold up well to milk. This one falls into the former category although I do add milk on occasion – it just tastes kind of weak and diluted with milk.
I love this earl grey! I’ve probably tried 20-30 earl greys looking for the perfect one. This one is really bold but not astringent with the perfect balance of non-perfumy bergamot! It’s strong enough to hold up well to some milk or cream, yum! Oh, and the second steep still has a lot of flavor.
This tea is a big disappointment considering its high ratings on steepster and elsewhere. I’ve been on a search for the perfect earl grey, and so far, I’ve tried maybe 20-30 different earl greys. This one is really mediocre. It tastes no better than a cheap earl grey from a tea bag, worse maybe. It has no body or depth, just a weak, perfumy bergamot. The flavor is very weak overall. Steep time adjustments and adding more tea do not seem to bring out any more black tea flavor from the tea.
