Green as spring itself
Most beautiful cup of Jade
There is only one

Perfect top of foam
Sometimes it works out that way
Glad it did today

Random snowflakes fall
Sitting by my kumquat tree
Sipping dreams of spring

“This is the only Matcha in my collection. I detest flavored matchas & consider them to be a blasphemous travesty, a desecration of perfection.” from Terri Harplady’s Tea as Spiritual Experience.

Terri HarpLady

Note to Sil – I love you anyway, you heathen! hahaha
To each their own.

TheTeaFairy

DYING WITH ENVY…I have yet to find ANY matcha I like. I have a strong stomach, takes a lot to upset it. Yet, a tiny little bit of matcha, and I feel instant pain. Plus I don’t understand what’s so fantastic about the taste. As you said, to each their own :-)

Stephanie

I bet this is amazing I just can’t justify $30 an ounce :(

Terri HarpLady

My Fairy friend, I can only drink Matcha & other greens with or after food. Any other time you can forget it, so I relate.
Steph, I got mine on sale last year, 2 for one. I keep it in the freezer. I only drink it about once a month, so it has lasted almost forever!

Sil

Terri – i think of my flavoured matcha as flavouring. not matcha. if that’s any consolation :)

ashmanra

Terri: how I earth did I miss a two for one sale on this??? I surely would have bought it. Bought a bunch for Christmas gifts with a small discount, though.

Stephanie

Wow, two for one would be an awesome deal! :) Let us know if you ever see that again.

Terri HarpLady

It was shortly after I joined steepster, a year ago in the fall. I think it was 2 for one…or buy one get the 2nd half price…something like that.

Starfevre

Flavoured matcha is coffin and flavouring. It doesn’t really count as matcha because I love Flavoured matcha and not so much the real stuff.

Although I’m not a big fan of flavored teas, I do tea blend that include *real*ingredients. Of course, when you’re using real things, as opposed to artificial or (supposedly) natural flavors, it’s harder to get a depth of taste. That’s why I admire Verdant’s blend efforts. I don’t always enjoy their blends.the Earl of Anxi was IMHO awful. It started out nice enough, but the frankincense made me sick to my stomach. I did like the idea of it though, & most people loved it. On the other hand, Sichuan Caravan & Laoshan black chocolate genmaicha are wonderful! I love verdants commitment to keeping it real, & their creativity in doing so.
And I love this tea! It’s especially nice with a pinch of sweet, & I’m having a creamy cup of spicy orange cake with vanilla frosting, something I could never actually eat without suffering consequences for days. Proof that you can have your cake & drink it too?

caile

I love this blend too!

Fuzzy_Peachkin

This is my favorite of their blends!

boychik

For some reason i didnt like it. it was kind of bitter, not spicy. i added some maple syrup, even milk(normally i dont add anything). It didnt improve. maybe its my batch

Terri HarpLady

I don’t always like orange in my tea, in fact most of the time I don’t, but this one is working for me, at least today! I used 1.5 Tb, actually did the quick rinse they suggested, & steeped 2 min/5min/7min.

Drinking my daily cup of Elderberry. I went by Cheryl’s yesterday to restock, & I have to say, this is the best Elderberry I’ve ever had!! Although the berries are dried, they have a juicy fruitiness to the aroma & taste, I feel like I’m Anne of Greene Gables, drinking a cordial. The brew is rich, sweet, & thick with flavor, & I think I’m gonna have to buy a lb of these this year!
It’s a rare treat when ‘medicine’ tastes so good that I look forward to my next cup!

Indigobloom

Dang Terri, if we ever do a swap I am requesting some of this! :D

Terri HarpLady

If you ever want a swap, I’m in! Otherwise, I’ll toss some into the next box I send to Sil for you :)

Starfevre

Stevia, bleh

Starfevre

Wait, am I looking at the right one? Is it under herbs because none of these are named Elderberry.

Starfevre

Is it just some of the dried elderberries under the herb section and not the tea section?

Sil

yes it’s under herbs….just dried elderberries. :) brews up really nicely heh but it’s not a “tea”

Terri HarpLady

Yeah, just the straight Elderberries in the herb section.

Terri HarpLady

If you order any, tell them Terry HarpLady sent you, LOL.
Of course, they know me as Terri the Harp Player, but I’m sure they’ll figure out the connection.

Indigobloom

Sweet!! yes Terri we should swap! :P

Sil

i’m watching you IB….

Starfevre

I had totally forgotten I had elderberry lozenges stashed away. They actually taste pretty good.

How do I love thee?
Let me count the ways….

Terri HarpLady

Yikes! The batteries to my trackpad (mouse) are low, & I have no idea where the recharger is. This is what happens when you move your office to a different room in your house & spend more time drinking tea than organizing…just find charger!

Terri HarpLady

Found it! Luckily it was on the dresser in my son Leif’s room!

Had a small cup of this (4oz), so I could sample it one more time before sending the last bit to Lala. It has a very nice lychee flavor too it, not overly done, just right! Thanks again Spencer for sharing a bit of this with me!

I’ve been sipping on this Sheng for a couple of hours, & enjoying the good vibes that it brings. I think I gave a pretty good description the last time I had a session with it, so I won’t go into any long winded detailed account of each steeping. Right now the cup is sweet, like a light nectar, with just a hint of smoke & a camphor after-glow. My brain is lit up like a lightbulb, & I feel very relaxed & present. This is a crystal clear sheng, & I’m really enjoying it!

cryptickoi

I really like that sheng,it was one of the first I ever purchased….I have a few put away, ive been contemplating breaking into one as its so good…yum..

Terri HarpLady

I only got a small quantity of it to sample, but I am really enjoying it. I think I can drink it a couple more times. I’m trying to get myself under control & stick with smaller quantities like this, as I always want to buy whole cakes of everything, LOL, & then I store them in my bedroom on the 3rd floor away from the kitchen aromas. Right now I probably already have enough tea up there to drink for the rest of my life…

cryptickoi

I know exactly where you’re coming from…there’s no way I could ever drink all of what I have…my son will be the recipient of my tea collection,he will have an appreciation for it as he loves tea too..

Terri HarpLady

Yeah, when I pass away & my kids are going through my stuff, it will be like a bad reality show: hidden boxes of tea everywhere, Journals that date back to college (actually, my daughters will love reading those), not to mention all the sheet music, instruments, & other music related stuff.

Sil

terri…give them my address…i’ll take the tea off their hands LOL

Terri HarpLady

LOL!
Hey Sil, do you want a sample of this one?

I think this tea will have to be in my collection forever, because it really is that nice. The flavor is lovely & rich, with a hint of roses to it, at least that’s how I perceive it.

My last cup of this, for now. I’ve really enjoyed this one, & will probably re-order at some point (when I have money again).

TeaLady441

I really enjoyed it when it was in my Amoda box! Too bad they don’t have good international shipping options, though I remember hearing from them awhile back that maybe something could be arranged… Maybe I should email them. :P

Robert Godden

Email me directly on robert@the-devotea.com. And I will see what can be done.

Terri HarpLady

Cavo, we could also split an order…

Profile

Bio

I’m so excited to have found this community! I’m a self-employed Harpist (acoustic & electric – Originals, Classical, Rock, Jazz, etc) & Singer/Songwriter. My days & nights revolve around teaching at home, playing gigs, gardening,& fixing awesome food to eat. My schedule is different everyday, but I just go with the flow, & I sip a lot of tea!

My love of Tea began with Herbals back in the 70’s. One of my favorites was a licorice blend from House of Hezekiah, an old tea shop in Kansas City. There was also a tea with mint, rose petals, chamomile, etc called Nuclear Casual Tea.
In the 80’s I gave up caffeine, chocolate, alcohol, (& a few illicit substances…), and brewed medicinal blends & tinctures to support 4 pregnancies (all children born at home). In the 90’s my love affair with green teas began when I discovered ‘The Republic of Tea’. Their beautiful teas & packaging inspired my original song, “TeaMind”, from my CD “Zen Breakfast”. If you’d like to hear the song for free, drop by my website.

In general, I drink my teas straight, but occasionally I add a pinch of Stevia & maybe some coconut or almond milk (I’m allergic to dairy, gluten, & various other things & avoid most sweets.)

I’ve explored a variety of teas:
Whites tend to be a little bland…sorry
Oolongs – wonderfully sensual
Roobios – I’m not a fan in general
Puehr – a fairly new direction for me
I’m not a huge fan of flavored teas, but I do make exceptions, & I’ll try just about anything once.

And Black Tea, Oh how I love thee!!
I am on a quest for the most wonderful breakfast cup! I will find you, my Love!
